The Easter Season

Alleluia, Jesus has risen!

Easter does not end at midnight on Easter Sunday. It is not a 24 hour celebration. Easter is a 50 day period, or season, that lasts from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday. The Easter season celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and the preparation of the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

During the Easter season, the Gospel readings in Year A focus on encounters with the risen Jesus. They reveal themes of new life, faith and the presence of Christ among his followers.

These readings invite us to recognise Jesus in everyday moments and remind us that through his resurrection, we are called to live with hope, trust, and love.

The liturgical colour for the Easter season is white. White signifies the light of Christ rising, purity, and the "new life" believers receive.

Happy Easter to you all.

ANZAC Day - we remember

Gallery Image

ANZAC Day is a time to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and service of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions.

It marks the anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 and invites us to reflect on the values of bravery, mateship and respect, while giving thanks for those who have worked to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

While there are no original ANZAC soldiers still alive today, the spirit of the ANZACs remains with us.

For priests in crisis

Let us pray for priests going through moments of crisis in their vocation, that they may find the accompaniment they need and that communities may support them with understanding and prayer.

Amen
