2027 Kinder Orientation

Over the last two Tuesday mornings, we have been delighted to welcome our future 2027 Kindergarten students to their first two Orientation Sessions.

It has been wonderful for the DCS team to meet our newest students and their families, and to begin building the relationships that make our school community so special. The children arrived with plenty of excitement and enthusiasm, enjoying a range of fun activities while becoming familiar with their new school environment.

At the same time, we were pleased to host parent information sessions, providing families with an opportunity to learn more about school life and ask questions as they prepare for this exciting journey.

A highlight of the sessions has been seeing our older students step up and help our youngest visitors. Their friendly smiles, encouragement, and leadership gave our future Kindergarten students a wonderful glimpse of the caring culture at DCS.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back for two more Orientation Sessions in Term 4 as we continue preparing for an exciting start to Kindergarten in 2027.

Kidpreneur Market Day

Our Year 5/6 students have been participating in the Kidpreneur program.  A Kidpreneur is a young entrepreneur who starts their own business or learns about entrepreneurship. Kidpreneur education focuses on teaching students the basics of running a business, from concept development to marketing and finance, culminating in the Kidpreneur Market Day being held on Wednesday 16th September.

Our young entrepreneurs in Year 5/6 have been busy presenting their businesses at Primary Assemblies, and they have done an outstanding job sharing their ideas, products, and services. From creative handmade crafts and fun games to delicious treats and innovative products, there is a real buzz around the school as students talk about the stalls they are most excited to visit.

It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm from our Primary students, with many already planning how they will spend their money and support their fellow students' businesses. We are incredibly proud of the creativity, confidence, and hard work our Kidpreneurs have shown throughout this process.

Kidpreneur Market Day is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 5/6 students to develop valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, creativity, and entrepreneurship, and we can't wait to see all their hard work come to life on the big day.

Kidpreneur Market Day

Location: Primary 5/6 Building

Date: Wednesday 16 September

Time: Open to parents and DCS community between 9:45am to 10:35am

Please note: cash only available on the day-no EFTPOS facilities (please help us by bringing 50c, $1, $2 coins and notes no larger than $10 if possible)

Come. Explore. Support. Have Fun!

Parents and DCS community are invited to come along and:

• Support our young entrepreneurs
• Explore the variety of stalls on offer
• Ask questions about their businesses
• Give every stallholder a chance to shine

Please come along and support their markets.  All profits will be going to charity.

Learn To Swim

Starting today, all students in Prep-Year 4 will be participating in our Learn to Swim program. This will be held at the Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre and lessons are taught by qualified swimming instructors. Class teachers and learning assistants will attend with their class.

Dates:

Venue: Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre

Transport: Kinetic Bus

Please Pack:

•    Asthma puffer (if required)

•    Bathers

•    Towel x 2

•    Plastic bag for wet clothing

•    Goggles (optional)

•    Drink & extra snacks

Please bring items in a sturdy carry bag (plastic bags are not strong enough) and ensure that all items are clearly named.

Students are to wear their sports uniform for the duration of the campaign. It is also recommended to bring an extra snack to eat before or after their swimming lessons.

Please indicate your permission via Consent2Go.  Your child will be unable to participate without consent. Any students not swimming will still be required to travel to the pool with their class and observe.
