Information for Families

WEEK 10

Monday 8th December -                Class Placement Letter

Students will be sent home with a class placement letter with the name of their 2026 class teacher. This information is to help prepare your child for Step Up Day on the following day.

Tuesday 9th December -               Statewide Transition Day

On this day we welcome our 2026 Preps and wish our Grade 6 students all the best on their day at secondary.  All other students will step up for the day to their 2026 classroom.  This is an opportunity for your child to get to know their 2026 teacher and class.

Thursday 11th December –           Grade 6 Graduation Night

This is a highly anticipated night on our annual calendar.  The evening will commence at 6.00pm (arrive from 5.45pm) for our students who will share a meal of pizza with their 2025 class prior to the evening formalities. Parents are asked to arrive afterwards through the office and be seated ready for a 7pm commencement.

The night will involve some speeches and the presentation of awards.  A night the students, staff and I’m sure parents are very much looking forward to. This night is a great way for our Grade 6 students and their families to come together and celebrate the end of primary school.

Friday 12th December-          Final Assembly

Our final assembly will take place on Friday 12th December commencing at 11:30am and hopefully many parents will be able to take an early lunch break to attend.

This year we are unfortunately able to hold the Assembly in the gardens.  We are currently monitoring the weather to finalise our options for a suitable and comfortable space.  We will update families on Monday.

We will endeavour to keep any speeches on the day as short as possible.  The main focus will be to present our Semper Sursum Awards and announce the Student Leadership Positions for 2026.  There will also be performances by each of the grade levels, performing songs they have been learning in Music with Mrs Garland and Mrs Pitman.

At Assembly, we will also be drawing the Christmas raffle and announcing the first three prize winners. Due to time restraints during the Assembly, only these three major prizes will be drawn, with all remaining prizes to be drawn shortly afterwards. Winners who aren’t announced at the Assembly will be contacted by phone directly. Thank you for your understanding and support.

At the conclusion of the final assembly, students will return to their class.

Friday 12th December - Choir participate in Carols by Candlelight

The Choir will be singing in the Carols by Candlelight held in the Botanical Gardens, Hamilton. Choir members will need to arrive by 7.30pm and meet Mrs Garland near the rotunda to get ready. All choir members will need to wear their school uniform. Students will be given their choir shirts to put over their school tops.

The Carols commences at 8pm and will be finished around 9pm.

There will be Kids Activities and BBQ food available for free from 6.30pm if you would like to come earlier as a family.

Our choir will be performing “Do You Hear What I Hear” and will be the opening song for the evening.

After we have performed, students will give their choir shirts to Mrs Garland and are then to be collected by parents from beside the rotunda straight after their item.

WEEK 11

Monday 15th December               Final Classes/Grade Parties

Today final formal classes and grade parties will be held.  Students are welcome to come to school wearing a touch of Christmas with their school uniform.

Tuesday 16th December -            Grade 6 ‘Big Day Out’

The fun and celebrations continues, with our Grade 6 students being treated to an excursion to Adventure Park, Geelong on Tuesday 16th December.  A great reward for all of their hard work and to celebrate the end of their time at primary school.

The students have self-funded this trip through selling Zooper Doopers and house BBQs in Term 4 to fundraise for this activity.

The information regarding this has been sent out and is due back on Monday 8th December.

Tuesday  16th December -          “Fun Colour Run Day”

Whilst our Grade 6 students are off enjoying their day at Adventure Park Geelong, our students in Grades Prep to 5 will get to participate in their own bit of fun.

Throughout the day, students will work in multi-age groups—(Prep–2) and (Grades 3–5)—and will rotate through a range of engaging activity stations. Teachers will work in pairs to coordinate these sessions, which include:

  • Obstacle Course and Play Equipment Station – Top playground
  • Construction Tasks and Dress-Up/Selfie Station – Open Learning Area
  • Craft and Collaboration Station – Senior Building
  • Sports and Games Station – Stadium and asphalt area
  • Skipping and Water Relay Games Station – Front of school

We are confident students will enjoy these fun and varied activities.

COLOUR RUN

  • Prep–2: 11:45 am – 1:00 pm
  • Grades 3–5: 2:10 pm – 3:10 pm

All children will need a change of clothes and a plastic bag for wet or coloured items.

Students are encouraged to wear an old white (or light-coloured) shirt to get the full effect of the colour powder, which will be gently “thrown” by staff and special visitors. Children need come to school dressed in their Colour Run clothes and will change afterwards. We will be using the same colour powder as last year.

Details about the powder are provided below. Although the product is considered safe for skin and eyes, we recommend that children wear eye protection—swimming goggles are ideal. We have a supply of goggles available for any students who need to borrow a pair.

All students need to bring a towel and a full change of clothes. Everyone will certainly need to freshen up after this exciting event!

About the Colour Powder

  • Safe for skin and eyes
  • Non-toxic and fully tested
  • Made from high-quality cornstarch with permitted food-safe colours

We are sure our Tuesday Fun Day will be exactly as the name suggests—a fantastic and enjoyable experience for all students! Parents are very welcome to come along and watch. It should be a fun and messy day to finish the year!

Wednesday 17th December, Thursday 18th December and Friday 19th December

Wednesday 17th December, Thursday 18th & Friday 19th December will be spent cleaning up, staff completing transition ‘handover’ meetings and cleaning classrooms.  Whilst these are still considered official school days, we are aware that many families choose to keep children home on these last three days.

A notice will be sent home on Wednesday 10th December for you to complete and return by Friday 12th December advising if your child will be attending school on Wednesday 17th, Thursday 18th or Friday 19th December.

A reminder that for any children who will be attending on Friday 19th December, the final day of the school year, the dismissal time for all students will be 1:00pm, except for bus travellers who will be dismissed at 1.25pm and children attending OSHC will be dismissed at 1.30pm.
