In The Artroom
This week in the Artroom, grade 3-6 students continued their “DRAW ALL YOU CAN” project using design cards, A2 paper and pencils. They will continue these artworks next week – outlining using black markers to show depth and colouring with coloured pencils with a tonal and colour focus.
Gr 5/6 were lucky enough to participate in an incursion from the Hamilton Art Gallery – using procreate on their new ipads for digital design work. We are very thankful to the gallery in supporting our Art program and offering these workshops to us.
Photos of artwork will be placed on our school’s facebook page.
Ms Brown held a Christmas craft workshop on Wednesday lunchtime with students creating special items for Christmas. There is a list on the double glass doors for next Wednesday’s workshop. There are only 12 spots for gr 3-6 so make sure you write your name on the list if you’re interested.
Art club was on Tuesday for all grades.
Artist of the week awards go to:
- Narlarah Charles-Austin
- Aaliyah Esperanzate

Well done to everyone on a great week of creating awesome artwork!

Week 8
Preps this week continued to explore movement. They undertook a guided investigation on how the heavier something is, the harder it is to spin.
Grade 1/2s explored gravity. They created paper helicopters and added weight to them, to see the effect of gravity on a heavier paper helicopter.
Grade 3/4s concluded their unit of work on heat. With a thermometer, they measured the temperature of three different things – STEM room temperature, a cup of water and outside.
Grade 5/6s continued their electrical circuits work. They used the Makey Makey circuits again, this time controlling computer apps with aluminium foil.
Week 9
Preps had rotation activities this week. One activity was to use the iPads and the other was to work in pairs to build bridges to see how many coloured blocks they could hold.
Grade 1/2s also had rotations this week. One activity was to use the iPads and the other was to work in pairs to build a structure around a character.
Grade 3/4s had a Challenge Week, where they had to use provided materials to build a paper plate roller coaster. Some fabulous designs were created!
Grade 5/6s finished their unit of work on electrical circuits. They used the Makey Makey kits that enabled them to control computer apps with grey-led pencils.
