Listening to the Wellbeing Voice of Our Community
Over the coming weeks, families will receive an invitation to complete the MACSSIS School Improvement Survey and students in Years 4–6 will also take part in the student survey during class time. Each year, this process helps us understand how our students feel about their learning, their relationships, and their sense of safety and belonging at school.
We’ve seen a steady increase in family participation over the past few years, and we hope this continues. Every response strengthens our understanding of how wellbeing is experienced across our community.
The survey explores areas such as school engagement, belonging, student safety and communication. These elements sit at the heart of wellbeing. They help us understand whether students feel connected to their peers, supported by their teachers and confident in their learning environment. For families, the survey provides insight into how well the school communicates, partners with parents and supports students socially and emotionally.
One of the key aims of the family survey is to identify our strengths and areas for improvement. MACSSIS data benefits everyone by offering clear, community‑driven insights that guide our wellbeing initiatives and teaching practices. At SMDP, we believe strongly in family voice, your feedback helps shape the ongoing growth of our school and ensures we continue to build a safe, caring and inclusive environment for every student.
Once the results have been analysed, we will share a summary with you through our newsletter.

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured.
