Principal's Message

Yesterday, seven of our Year 6 students celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation.  

Confirmation is a significant step in their faith journey, a moment where they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and are encouraged to live these gifts through their choices, friendships and interactions each day. It is also a moment where our school’s motto, Love and Service to All, comes to life in a very real way. Inspired by St Martin de Porres, our students learn that faith is expressed through everyday acts of kindness, courage and care.

In preparing for this Sacrament, our students have been learning about the fruits of the Holy Spirit, qualities that grow in us when we allow God’s Spirit to guide our hearts and actions. These fruits are simple, practical ways of interacting well with others and they can shape the way our students learn, lead and care for one another at school.

Love — Love reminds students to look outward, noticing who might need a hand, a smile or a moment of encouragement. At school, love shows up in including others, sharing space kindly and choosing words that lift people up.

Joy — Joy helps students bring positivity into their day. It looks like celebrating others’ successes, finding gratitude in small moments and choosing honesty and kindness in friendships.

Peace — Peace is lived through fairness, calm problem‑solving and listening well. At school, peace means treating everyone with dignity, forgiving quickly and working together for the good of the whole class.

Patience — Patience helps students slow down, take turns, wait respectfully and show understanding when someone is learning at a different pace. It’s choosing composure over frustration.

Kindness — Kindness is expressed in warm greetings, helpful actions and gentle words. It’s the everyday friendliness that makes our school feel safe and welcoming.

Generosity — Generosity shows up in sharing time, attention and care. It’s offering help without being asked, including others in games and giving freely from a place of abundance.

Faithfulness — Faithfulness helps students follow through, keep promises and be reliable friends. It strengthens trust and builds strong, respectful relationships.

Gentleness — Gentleness is sensitivity to how others feel. At school, it means being careful with our words, safe in our actions and thoughtful about how we treat one another.

Self‑control — Self‑control helps students pause, think and choose wisely. It supports calm responses, respectful behaviour and the courage to do what is right even when it’s difficult.

This week, our school took part in Bullying No Way Week — “Small Acts, Big Impact.”  

This message aligns with the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Each fruit invites our students to make small, intentional choices that create a big impact on the wellbeing of others. A kind word, a patient response, a generous action or a gentle tone can completely change someone’s day.

When our students practise these fruits, they help build a school community where everyone feels safe, valued and included. It helps build a community where bullying has no place and where courage, compassion and respect guide how we treat one another.

We congratulate the Year 6 students who made their confirmation and we provide encouragement as they continue to grow in faith, courage and love. Thank you, Lucas and Nicole for preparing our students for this special moment in their lives.   

Last night our band, choir and dance troupe represented our school with pride. Fifty students came along to support our Confirmation candidates, and their presence shaped the whole evening. They sang beautifully and sat with respect throughout the Mass. Thank you to Jane, our Music Teacher, for preparing the students and helping make the celebration a memorable one.

Thank you also to the parents who drove their children to Emmanuel College. Your support means a great deal. It was a moment where a small school showed what it can do. As people were leaving, many spoke about how talented and impressive our students are.
