Important Reminder - Sport Event Sign-On Process

To support the safety, supervision and accurate record-keeping of students participating in Clayfield College sporting programs and events, families are reminded of the importance of completing the required event sign-on process through Parent Lounge.

This process applies across Senior School and Junior School Sport and ensures the Sports Department has accurate attendance records and access to the information required to support students while participating in College sport.

Event Sign-On and Attendance

When your child is participating in a sporting program or event, please ensure you:

  • Complete and accept the relevant event sign-on via Parent Lounge by the advertised closing date.
  • Notify the appropriate Sport Coordinator or Head of Sport and Activities by email as soon as possible if there are any changes to your child's attendance or transport arrangements.
  • Ensure students are signed out with the nominated supervising staff member before leaving an event with a parent or caregiver.

Students should not leave a venue without first being signed out, as this is essential to maintaining accurate attendance and supervision records.

Thank you to our families for your cooperation and continued support in helping us provide a safe, organised and positive sporting experience for all Clayfield College students.

Clayfield Trio Take on National Cross-Country Championships

Three of our student athletes took on Australia’s best young distance runners at the Athletics Australia National Cross-Country Championships in Ballarat, Victoria.

Persistent rain transformed the course into a muddy quagmire, making an already challenging national championship course an even greater test of endurance. Against fields of approximately 80 to 90 athletes, Grace Hunter (Year 8), Winnie Woodcroft (Year 5) and Xavier Hunter (Year 9) proudly represented Queensland and Clayfield College.

Grace produced a brilliant performance in the Under 14 race, putting herself right in the contest from the opening stages. Through the mud and all the way to the finish, she battled at the front alongside two NSW athletes, with just four seconds separating first and third. Grace crossed the line in third place to claim a National bronze medal.

Her performance also helped Queensland secure gold in the teams’ event. Queensland’s first three finishers all placed inside the top eight, combining for the lowest overall score and the National team title.

Competing at her first National Cross-Country Championships, Winnie delivered a terrific run in the Under 11 event to finish 18th in Australia, which was a terrific result on her Nationals debut.

Xavier completed the demanding 6km Under 16 course, finishing 48th nationally against a strong field of Australia’s leading young distance runners.

Three Clayfield athletes competing on the national stage in seriously tough cross-country conditions, that is something to be very proud of. Congratulations to Grace, Winnie and Xavier on representing their state, school and families in Ballarat.

Christina Selected for Gymnastics Australia Gold Camp

Clayfield gymnast Christina “Chrissy” Anictomatis was recently selected to attend the Gymnastics Australia International Pathways Gold Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, earning her place through her results at the Australian Gymnastics Championships.

The intensive week included two gymnastics sessions each day, gymnastics-specific strength testing, AIS baseline testing, recovery sessions and athlete education.

“My highlight was being able to display all my new skills and to live, train and socialise with the elite gymnasts from other states for the week,” Chrissy said.

Training alongside different athletes and coaches also provided Chrissy with valuable new perspectives to take back into her own training.

“One thing I learned at the camp was how to take feedback from different coaches and understand the different ways they give corrections.”

There was also time for some fun away from the gym, with the athletes enjoying a tenpin bowling outing, a fun highlight for Chrissy, who proudly reported, “I won!”

Congratulations, Chrissy, on earning this opportunity and embracing every part of the Gold Camp experience.

Imogen O’Connor Impresses at State Softball Championships

Congratulations to Imogen O’Connor on a strong performance at the Queensland Schools State Softball Championships.

Representing Metropolitan North, Imogen helped her team finish fourth after recording six wins and four closely contested losses across the tournament.

As the youngest player in the team, Imogen was entrusted with pitching duties in four games, which is a significant achievement at state level and a reflection of the composure she showed throughout the championships.

Well done, Imogen.
