NAPLAN

NAPLAN Week

This week our Year 3 and Year 5 students will take part in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). To help children feel calm and ready to do their best, we encourage families to ensure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and arrive at school on time each day.

While NAPLAN provides a snapshot of student learning in literacy and numeracy, it is important to remember that it does not measure many of the qualities we value most in our students. NAPLAN does not capture creativity, kindness, teamwork, perseverance, curiosity, faith, or the many talents our children demonstrate every day in the classroom and playground.

Our testing timetable will begin with Writing on Wednesday, followed by Reading, then Language Conventions, and will conclude with Numeracy on Monday 16 March. Catch-up sessions will be held where required and will conclude on Monday 23 March, in accordance with NAPLAN regulations.

All students have had experience completing assessments online and are familiar with the format. We encourage them simply to try their best and approach the week with confidence.
