News from the Kindergarten classroom!
Our amazing Kindergarten learners have taken an exciting step in their reading journey! They are now beginning to put sounds together to read simple words—how incredible is that? We have been practicing blending sounds in fun and engaging ways, and the children are showing growing confidence every day. It’s such a joy to watch their faces light up when they realise they can read a word all by themselves!
To make learning even more fun, we played our very first games of Sound Bingo and Snap using our sounds and words. The classroom was full of laughter, excitement, and lots of careful listening as students matched sounds to letters and words. These games help build strong foundations in reading while keeping learning playful and interactive.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring the concept of sequencing events. Our clever Kindergarten students are learning to describe the order of their day using some impressive “big words” like daytime, noon, afternoon, and night-time. We are also practicing words such as before, after, and next to help explain what happens and when.
It has been wonderful to see the children using these new words in their conversations and daily routines. They are becoming confident communicators and thoughtful learners as they make sense of the world around them. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and can’t wait to see what they discover next!
🌟 A "Un-beet-able" Discovery in the Veggie Patch! 🌟
Hold onto your sunhats, families, because our Kindergarteners have officially turned into Giant Vegetable Hunters! 🕵️♂️🌱
This week, we headed out to our school veggie patch for some routine weeding, but we found something much more exciting instead. Hidden under the leaves was a BEETROOT SO BIG it could have its own postcode! It’s purple, it’s round, and it’s definitely the king of our garden.
The Grand Tour
We couldn't keep this magnificent veggie a secret! Our proud gardeners paraded the "Monster Beet" all around the school to show the big kids and teachers. There were lots of gasps, plenty of "Whoas!", and maybe a few "Is that actually real?!" comments.
⚖️ The Great Guessing Game
The biggest question on everyone's lips is: How much does it actually weigh? We’ve started a classroom competition, and our estimates are... well, they’re wonderfully creative!
- Dougal is convinced it weighs a whopping 50,000kg (we might need a crane for that one!). 🏗️
- Isabelle is playing it a bit more "down to earth" with a guess of 6kg. ⚖️
Who will be the closest? We’ll be doing the official weigh-in on Friday to see which of our little mathematicians has the magic touch.
Stay tuned for the results! It’s safe to say we are rooting for everyone!
