CAPTAINS CORNER
Interschool sports is an event where all of Year 6 and selected year 5 students play a range of different sports against other local schools. We play one round each week on Friday morning and there are three rounds in Term 1. There are five sports: T-ball, cricket, volleystars, kickball and tennis. In the first round Glen Waverley South came to our school. In the second round T-ball, kickball, volleystars and tennis walked to Camelot Rise while cricket headed off to the Capital Reserve. Our last and final round was played against Huntingtower, and they came here. Overall, everyone showed outstanding effort and fabulous sportsmanship. We had a great time, with a few wins and a few loses but we came out with smiles on our faces. Thank you to our teachers for coaching, scoring and umpiring!

T-Ball:
Highvale played an amazing three rounds of T-ball showing fabulous sportsmanship. They won against Glen Waverley South and lost against Camelot Rise and Huntingtower. A shoutout to the five people who had to fill in against Camelot Rise including Isabella, Arshia and Alaistair. They still played their best and made sure to have a fun time playing! Everybody played their absolute best despite the wins and losses. Some of the people who played well were Nikki, Gavin and Kaitlyn, who was the team captain. Overall, we had a fun time, which is what Interschool sports are all about!
Tennis:
The first round of tennis happened at Highvale where we played against Glen Waverley South. When they arrived, there were a lot more people than us. We played a few matches and a few people got to play more matches than others. The next match we played was against Camelot Rise, we had to walk to their school and play on smaller courts than ours, but they had a lot more courts. We lost the match, but everyone had lots of fun playing at their school. The third match was Highvale against Huntingtower, a private school that came to our school to play a fair match. Their school played exceptionally well. One of the players that Keitarou challenged was a state champion for the age group of twelves.
Kickball:
The kickball team had a close match and won against Glen Waverley South with a score of 11-8. Everyone tried their best and had lots of fun at the end of the morning. When kickball played against Camelot Rise some of the Highvale team had to play for Camelot Rise. Highvale won by a few runs in this match. The third, and final, week for the kickball team was a fun match for them as they played against Huntingtower. The Huntingtower team was good, but Highvale still won 28-13. The kickball team had lots of fun.
Cricket:
Interschool sports started with a game at Highvale, our cricketers went over to Highvale Secondary College. We made some good runs but we may lost. We did show great resilience even when the odds were against us. Everyone showed great honesty and integrity along with all the other school values. The next interschool sport session took place at Camelot Rise Primary School, the walk there was great, we could have a quick chat before the game. When we arrived, we did the bat toss they won and chose to bat so we bowled and fielded. We managed to get a few wickets, and many showed extraordinary commitment. They won but we all had fun. HPS hosted the final round against Huntingtower and we played on the secondary college oval again. As a team we showed great improvement in all aspects of the game: batting, bowling and fielding. We had great fun but unfortunately lost.
