Student Class Placement for 2027

It is hard to believe that we are already at ‘that time of year’ again, when we begin planning our school structures and class placements for 2027.

If your child will be leaving Brighton Beach Primary School at the end of this year, please notify the school as soon as possible in writing to the admin office at brighton.beach.ps@education.vic.gov.au. Early notification is greatly appreciated and assists us with our workforce planning processes.

In accordance with our Class Placement of Students Policy, parents who wish to make a specific placement request should provide this to Bev or Anna in writing by the end of Week 3, Term 4. We ask families to respect the professional judgement of our staff throughout this process. Class structures and student groupings are carefully considered by the leadership team, taking into account teachers’ professional knowledge and the needs of all students. We trust that our families will allow us to manage this process thoughtfully and professionally.

Grade 6 Canberra Camp

What an incredible experience our Grade 6 students had on their Canberra camp! The students embraced every opportunity, representing Brighton Beach Primary School with maturity, enthusiasm and curiosity.

From exploring Parliament House and walking along ANZAC Parade to visiting the Australian War Memorial, driving past the embassies and discovering the wonders of Questacon, there were so many memorable experiences. Stargazing was another highlight, providing a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy something a little different together.

Our Grade 6 students were an absolute credit to themselves and our school. We are so proud of the way they approached the experience, supported one another and made the most of this special opportunity to learn beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to our Grade 6 teachers for the tremendous organisation, care and commitment that went into making this experience so memorable for our students. Camps like these create lasting memories and provide valuable opportunities for students to develop independence, strengthen friendships and build confidence.

Take a look at our Leadership section for a reflection on this experience from our community captains and a selection of photos from the camp.

What’s on this term?

It’s a busy one! To help families keep track of everything happening across the school, we will be sharing a calendar of upcoming events via Compass. Please note that some details may change as the term progresses, and additional year-level activities may arise. We hope this helps everyone stay organised as we head towards the end of another busy school year.

Further to our previous communication, please keep an eye on Compass for updates and reminders about upcoming events and important dates.

Professional Practice Day

Monday, 2 November is a Professional Practice Day for teachers, and students will not attend school on this day. Please note that this falls on the Monday before the Melbourne Cup public holiday. TheirCare will be available for families requiring supervision.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and for being such an important part of our Brighton Beach Primary School community.

Lost Property

A quick reminder about lost property - we have noticed an increased number of items have been accumulating in our lost property collection bins near the canteen. As a general rule, inexpensive items such as drink bottles and items of clothing are kept in the tubs in this area. More valuable items (wallets, keys, items of jewellery) are kept at reception for safekeeping. Please come to the office if you have lost something of value.
