In the Spotlight

Safe Driver Training
On 11 September, our senior students had the opportunity to participate in Safe Driver Training in Stanthorpe. The program aimed to enhance essential driving skills, addressing topics such as: Wet Road emergency braking, ABS braking control, Improved steering for optimal control, Cornering techniques, Evasive steering, Speed awareness, Managing distractions and Emergency response strategies.
This practical experience not only heightened our students understanding of traffic regulations and safe driving practices but also offered real-world advice and scenarios to prepare them for independent driving. We would like to thank Rotary Tenterfield and Tenterfield Homemakers for their generous financial support, which significantly contributed to the program's costs.
Formal Assembly
On Tuesday 22 September, our departing 2026 leaders led their final assembly. As a token of appreciation, they received a certificate and a farewell gift from THS. In return, the incoming 2027 leadership team expressed their gratitude by presenting chocolates, acknowledging their exceptional leadership.
Congratulations to our newly inducted 2027 leaders, who were honoured with their leader's badges. We look forward to the incredible things you will accomplish over the next twelve months!
Gold Level Winners
The following students who have achieved Gold level in our Positive Merit Scheme were presented with their certificates and vouchers at the Formal Assembly. Well done everyone!
Principal Award
The Principal Award for Term 3 honoured three exceptionally deserving winners. Ms Scott decided to break her own rule of selecting only two students and chose three instead. Congratulations to Stuart, Mundarra, and Philippa!
Major Awards
Congratulations to our Major Award recipients! These individuals have received multiple nominations across various subjects and were selected for the prestigious Academic, Consistency, and Improvement Award. Well done.
Academic Awards
A special congratulations to the following students who received subject awards at our formal assembly.
Final School Week
Year 12 took on the challenge of bringing their school gear in anything but a bag — and they certainly got creative! We saw everything from an esky, toolbox, fan and kids wheelbarrow to a fishing net, pet carrier and even a guitar case! A fantastic display of creativity and plenty of laughs along the way. They also dressed up as their future careers. Well done, Year 12!
Eisteddfod
Congratulations to Annabelle, Scout, Jessika, George, Mr Kelly and Ms Scott who performed various items in the speech and drama section of the Eisteddfod. They all performed extremely well with lots of prizes and great feedback from the adjudicator. Our Instrumental Music Band also performed, gaining great experience. Well done THS.
RU Ok? Day
On 10 September, Tenterfield High School is proudly participating in RU Ok? Day! We kicked off the morning with a free pancake breakfast for our students, encouraging everyone to connect and check in with each other. Together, we’re fostering a supportive school community and reminding everyone that a conversation can make a difference.
NSW Volunteer Awards
On 4 September staff, students and former students attended the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award ceremony for the New England / Norther Inland area. Our school received a Team nomination for our work with the Tenterfield Railway Station Preservation Society. We were very proud to be nominated and it was wonderful to see our former students Brooke and Sam jointly win the Youth volunteer of the year award because of their volunteering with the Railway. We greatly value our partnership with the society and can see the benefits volunteering brings to our students and the community.
Year 6 Transition
On 1 September our final transition day was held, with students feeling comfortable and enjoying activities like kitchen work, woodworking, and art. We thank our dedicated teachers, supportive students, and the school canteen for their contributions. In the evening, families attended the Year 5/6 information session, and our school band performed brilliantly for the first time. Great job, students, Mr Ryan, and Ms Waites! Orientation day will be held on 1st December from 10am to 2pm.
