Principal's Report

Welcome back to all our students, staff and families for Term 4! I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing school holiday break and is ready for an exciting final term of 2026. It is wonderful to see our students returning, and I look forward to the many opportunities, achievements and celebrations that lie ahead as we finish another successful school year.

As we begin the term, our thoughts are particularly with our Year 12 students, who have commenced their Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations. This is an important milestone in their educational journey and the culmination of many years of hard work, dedication and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of the commitment our Year 12 students have demonstrated throughout their schooling and wish them every success as they complete their examinations. I encourage each student to approach this final stage with confidence, knowing that their achievements extend far beyond examination results. We look forward to seeing the exciting pathways and opportunities that await them beyond Glen Innes High School.

One of the most exciting developments across our school has been the overwhelmingly positive response to our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) reboot. It has been fantastic to see our students and staff embrace this renewed focus on recognising positive behaviour, celebrating achievements and strengthening our school culture. We are particularly excited to introduce our brand-new PBL mascot, Sid the Star, created by our very talented student Miela Belle. Sid has been inspired by our school motto, Diligentia ad Sidera – Diligence to the Stars – and represents the importance of perseverance, positive choices, working hard and striving to achieve our personal best. We were absolutely delighted by the number of students who contributed mascot designs, and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated. The creativity, imagination and school pride demonstrated through the entries were outstanding.

Congratulations to Miela on creating a mascot that we are confident will become a much-loved part of our school community. We cannot wait to share Sid with our families and see him become a familiar face around Glen Innes High School.

We also have much to celebrate in the Creative Arts, with our students continuing to achieve outstanding success at both regional and state levels. A special congratulations to Payten Ward, who has been selected as a Principal Vocalist for the 2027 Pulse Alive Showcase and has progressed to Phase 2 of the Talent Development Project. We also congratulate Tahlia Husband, who has been selected as a Featured Dancer in the 2027 Pulse Alive Dance Company. These are remarkable achievements and reflect the dedication, talent and determination of both students. Our dancers have also been involved in specialised workshops in preparation for the New England Dance Festival, while our school band, The Angry Penguins, recently represented Glen Innes High School at Inverell's Got Talent. It is wonderful to see our students embracing these

opportunities, challenging themselves and representing our school with such pride. I would also like to acknowledge the dedication of Dylan McKean, Anouk Gillett and local dance teacher Lindy Alt, whose encouragement and support continue to provide valuable opportunities for our young performers.

I would also like to encourage our school community to get behind our wonderful P&C Association and support their Peony Fundraiser. Our P&C plays an important role in supporting Glen Innes High School, with funds raised contributing to additional resources, experiences and opportunities that directly benefit our students. Fundraisers such as this are a fantastic way for our families and wider community to come together in support of our school. I sincerely thank our dedicated P&C volunteers for their ongoing commitment and encourage everyone to support this initiative where possible. Every contribution makes a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community.

As we look ahead to the remainder of Term 4, there is certainly plenty to be excited about. This final term provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how far our students have come, celebrate their successes and continue building the positive and supportive school environment that makes Glen Innes High School such a special place.

Thank you to our students, staff, families and wider community for your continued support and commitment to our school. I look forward to another rewarding term filled with learning, achievement and opportunities for our students to shine.
