Principal's Report

Dear Families,

It has been a wonderfully productive couple of weeks at BSWPS, full of learning, culture, sport and community spirit. 

Reconciliation Week

To mark National Reconciliation Week, students and staff took part in our annual 'Wear It Yellow' day.  The theme of the week was ‘ALL IN’, acknowledging that: 

• Reconciliation lives in the everyday. The values we share and the choices we make. It’s shown through action.
• For the way we show up for each other. For the examples we set. Reconciliation takes all of us together. So, at BSWPS let’s be ‘ALL IN’ for reconciliation, every day. 

A special thank you to our Student Representative Council (SRC) for organising this event. Your leadership and effort are greatly appreciated by the whole school community.

Incursions

Our Grade 1 students enjoyed an amazing Bedtime Story Night celebrating the joy of reading. Students (and teachers) arrived in their pyjamas, ready to snuggle in for stories, hot chocolates, meditation and a cosy evening of reading together. Thank you to the Grade 1/2 teaching team (& Jimmy) for organising such a special and memorable event.

Students across the school enjoyed an engaging Chinese incursion from traditional games to language activities, students were immersed in the customs and history of China. A huge thank you to Kevin Laoshi and Sin Sin Laoshi, the BWSPS Chinese Team and visiting presenters.

Our 5/6 students also took part in an exciting hands-on science incursion, exploring experiments and concepts that brought classroom learning to life. 

Sports

Congratulations to all the students who took part in our recent Cross-country event. Well done to everyone involved, and thank you to Georgia, Liz and our parent helpers who supported the day. We had a number of students progress through to the next stage of Regionals, taking place next week; good luck to all of those students! 

Updated Student Photography Consent

I take students' privacy seriously and have recently sent out updated photography consent forms for parents and carers to complete. These forms allow you to specify your preferred level of consent for photos of your child. 

You can complete the updated form in one of two ways:

• Through the Compass app, or
• By collecting a paper copy from the front office

Please complete and return your form as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the consent options, please don't hesitate to contact the office.

Student Reports

Student achievement reports will be distributed on Friday 26th June. Due to industrial action taken by the Australian Education Union earlier this term, full descriptive comments won't be included this semester. 

We look forward to discussing your child's progress at parent-teacher interviews on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st July.
