Art Update

The Grade 1 and 2 students have completed their pop-up portraits. Throughout the term, they practised drawing faces and correctly positioning facial features. They then applied these skills to a collage project, creating faces that pop up from the page. Along the way, students explored a range of paper cutting and folding techniques to produce these colourful and imaginative portraits.

News from the Italian Room

Prep:

This term, the Preps have been learning to count to ten in Italian through songs, stories, and games. They have loved singing dieci piccoli bambini (Ten little children), reading the silly counting story sogni d’oro (Sweet Dreams), and practising their numbers in fun activities together.

Grade 1/2:

In Grades 1 and 2, students have been revising numbers 1–10 and extending their counting from 11–20. They are also learning how number words are connected. For example, dici means “ten” and is used in all the teen numbers from 11–19.

Grade 3/4:

This term, the Grade 3 and 4 students have been busy designing and creating their own board games. They are learning the days of the week, months of the year, and seasons, and using this knowledge in their games while working together in small groups.

Grade 5/6:

The 5/6 students are creating a visual dictionary about la mia casa (my house) using Google Slides. They have been using anchor charts and bilingual dictionaries to translate words and definite articles, and are building a helpful vocabulary guide for the home.
