School Council May Update

A new identified School Council position for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parent or carer was endorsed as part of the school's ongoing commitment to reconciliation. Further details on this in a separate note from Emma in the Newsletter.
Council celebrated the success of this year's Fete, the spoils of which has partially been allocated to a range of projects including new soccer goals, bike and scooter racks, outdoor storage, sensory play elements, commissioned First Nations artwork for the foyer, and completion of the Indigenous biodiversity garden.
Plans were endorsed for the next stages of the school's infrastructure upgrades, including a new storage shed, asbestos remediation and future improvements to the basketball court and surrounding play spaces.
The Annual Report Community Forum is planned for Friday 31 July following Assembly.
Council also received updates on fundraising activities including progressing plans for the Trivia Night.
Sustainability initiatives are increasingly being embedded into classroom learning with ongoing work to strengthen the school's composting systems and encourage environmentally responsible practices across the school.
Council also received updates on school maintenance works, including the successful repair of a fire hydrant system fault, which while disruptive, was mercifully easier to fix than might have been the case.
The next School Council meeting will be held on Thursday 25 June.
