Week 6: Footscray West students make others feel safe
Feeling safe means you can be yourself without worrying, knowing that people will look after you, listen to you, and treat you fairly. We can help others feel safe by watching out for each other. Safety also means respecting personal space, standing up for a friend, and helping someone who is hurt or upset.
We also keep ourselves safe by asking for help when we need it, speaking up if something doesn’t feel right, and making choices that respect others. Even small actions, like giving someone space, asking a friend if they need help, or speaking to an adult if something doesn’t feel right, can create safety for yourself and others.
This week, think about the choices you make in the classroom, on the yard, or during play. Ask yourself: “Am I helping others feel safe? Am I looking out for myself and my friends?” You will be surprised at how much everyone benefits when we all take steps to create a safe and caring environment.
