Principal Report

Mrs Luckman

Good afternoon,

It has been a very busy and exciting fortnight at IPS, with many wonderful things happening across our school.

Firstly, I would like to warmly welcome Miss Hillgrove to our school community. Miss Hillgrove is teaching our Year 4/5/6 students this year. She has a strong passion for History and Geography, and we are looking forward to seeing how she enriches and strengthens these learning areas for our senior students. If you see her around the school, please take a moment to say hello and make her feel welcome.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Mrs George, who has joined us as our new Auslan teacher. Mrs George also teaches at Wedderburn College and previously completed a placement at IPS, so many of our students already know her well. She is an incredible educator with a genuine passion for Auslan and supporting children to learn sign language. Mrs George will also be taking over our cooking program, which is an exciting addition to her role and will allow me to spend more time working directly in classrooms alongside our students.

We are also pleased to welcome Kyle as our newest Education Support (ES) staff member. Kyle is passionate about working with children and enjoys supporting students to develop both their sporting skills and their academic growth. We warmly welcome him to our IPS community.

Amber has also joined us as an ES and has already built lovely, positive relationships with all students. She is kind, passionate, and caring, all the qualities we value so highly in our staff. It is a pleasure to have her on board.

We are incredibly fortunate to have been able to employ Megan Lynch for an additional day each week. This now means our students have access to a social worker three days a week. Megan is a tremendous asset to our school, and her work supporting student wellbeing makes a significant difference to many of our families.

Our recent Hockey Roadshow was a great success. Students had the opportunity to learn new skills, practise teamwork and experience a different sport in a fun and inclusive environment. It was wonderful to see such high levels of participation and enthusiasm.

Unfortunately, due to the recent weather conditions, we had to postpone our first Family Cooking Session. This will now resume on Monday, the 16th. All families will still receive their $55 hamper as planned, and we appreciate your understanding.

Our Year 3–6 Camp is now only two weeks away. We are very much looking forward to this exciting opportunity for our students. There are still a number of outstanding payments. If you require any assistance with this, or if your child will not be attending, please contact the office as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school. IPS is such a special place because of the strong partnership between our staff, students, and families.
