Assistant Principal

As we come to the end of a highly successful and rewarding term at Mitcham Primary School, it is a pleasure to reflect on the many rich opportunities our students have embraced with enthusiasm, pride and a strong sense of belonging.
Our term has been filled with memorable events that have strengthened both student learning and our vibrant school community. The Junior and Senior Athletics Days were wonderful highlights, showcasing not only athletic skill but also teamwork, perseverance and outstanding sportsmanship. It was fantastic to see students encouraging one another and celebrating success together. Harmony Night was another standout event, bringing families together to celebrate the diversity that makes our community so special in a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Similarly, our Community Afternoon provided a valuable opportunity for connection, reinforcing the strong partnerships that underpin our school.
We were also privileged to participate in the Welcome to Country ceremony at Mullauna College, a meaningful experience that deepened students’ understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Across the school, students engaged enthusiastically in Footsteps dance lessons, building confidence, coordination and joy through movement, while our Cyber Safety incursion provided important learning to support safe and responsible use of technology.
Our Prep students have had an exceptional start to their school journey. Their Teddy Bear’s Picnic was a delightful highlight, fostering connection and a sense of belonging. Throughout the term, our youngest learners have demonstrated remarkable courage, resilience and eagerness to learn, settling confidently into school routines.
Our student leaders proudly represented Mitcham Primary School at the GRIP Leadership Conference, gaining valuable insights and returning inspired to make a positive contribution to our school. We also extend our sincere thanks to our community for your incredible support of our fundraising events this term. Your generosity enables us to continue providing enhanced opportunities and experiences for all students.
Thank you to our families for the care and preparation you provide each day to ensure your children are ready to learn. Finally, I would like to acknowledge our dedicated staff for their careful planning, energy, commitment to building strong relationships and pursuit of excellence in teaching practice.
Wishing all members of our community a safe, restful and happy Easter break. We look forward to another exciting term ahead.
Warmest Regards,
Bron Steele
