Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,
I have been away all week with Year 6 Camp and having a great time hanging our Year 6 students and learning more about them. Thank you to the Staff at school who have ensured everything is running smoothly without me there, especially Mr Walters and Ms Bailey. After this week, we will have 4 weeks left full of learning, culminating in Week 10 with events such as Cross Country, and Easter Bonnet Parade.
This week’s PBL focus was to cross at the crossing and wait inside the gate till the bus or car has stopped in the stop and go. We also emphasised the importance of crossing safely at the crossing once the car has stopped. Next week’s PBL focus will be ‘Be an active listener’. This includes being quiet while someone is talking, raising your hand before speaking but also maintaining eye contact and showing with body language that you are interested in what is being said.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN will begin next Wednesday for the next week and a half. Students in Years 3 & 5 will sit tests in Reading, Writing, Maths and Spelling/Grammar. Attached in this newsletter is a flyer about NAPLAN, if you would like to discuss your child’s participation in NAPLAN, please contact the Office. Rest assured that the tests will be conducted in a non-stressful environment and the results will not be used for report cards.

Year 6 CAMP
Congratulations to our Year 6 cohort for the performance and behaviour at camp. Tallebudgera has a special week-long program that is called ‘Hero’s Journey’. It aims to teach students to awaken the hero within learning about 4 hero types – Champion, Guardian, Warrior and Mastermind. Each set of tasks takes a lot of energy, focus and teamwork. Activities such as boogie boarding, rock climbing, tubing, hiking around Burleigh Hill, escape room, team building activities, magic show, beach swims, kayaking and much more. Our students represented Gympie East with pride and many of the camp mentors and Staff commented on how well behaved and mature our students are.

SCHOOL PHOTOS
Photo envelopes are due to arrive next week and will be sent home with students ASAP.
