Enterprise Bargaining Agreement Update

We are continuing to negotiate with the Department of Education in relation to the new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and the log of claims submitted on behalf of principal class employees. Our ongoing meetings have been constructive and we are now moving towards the stage of working through the finer details of a potential agreement.
As many of you will be aware, the AEU has indicated a proposed stop-work action on the 24th March. I have sought guidance from the Department regarding the proposed action, recognising that for many Principals this may be the first time managing a stop-work situation within their school. It is also important to note that APF members are not covered by, or protected under, the proposed industrial action - only members of the AEU.
Once the proposed industrial action is confirmed, the Department will provide formal communication to Principals outlining expectations and responsibilities. In the interim, I encourage Principals to familiarise themselves with the Industrial Action section of the Principal Advisory and Leadership (PAL) resource, which provides a helpful starting point for understanding the relevant processes and obligations.
As always, the APF will continue to advocate strongly on behalf of principal class employees throughout the bargaining process and will keep members informed as further details emerge.
