Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students are having a fantastic time on their camp at Tangalooma, Moreton Island. Perhaps we should rename it an adventure retreat due to the lovely accommodation and schedule of activities including dolphin feeding, sand tobogganing, a bush tucker presentation and a snorkeling tour of the wrecks. A big shout-out to Team Tally members, Mr Gaggin, Mr Marais, Mrs Downey, Mrs Berryman, Mrs Hutchins, Mr Hutchinson, Mr Sinton and Mr Smith for generously giving their time to allow our students this opportunity.
Prep 2025
It was lovely to see our excited future Prep students at school this week for their informal interviews. During the interviews, future Prep children complete fun activities with one of our friendly staff members and we use the opportunity to learn about what our individual students will need for a successful start to school.
We also appreciate the information that parents and caregivers provide us and the transition statements from Early Learning Centres.
World Teachers Day / Staff Appreciation Day - 25 October 2024
This Friday, we mark our annual celebration of ‘Staff Appreciation Day’ with students. We acknowledge staff appreciation as one team, rather than different days for different employee groups, because we recognise that every member of our team has an important role to play in our success. We are one team, united to make a positive difference for our students.
Students will be given the opportunity to write certificates of appreciation for staff members of their choice and these will be displayed on the wall in the undercover area near our tuckshop. We invite you to express your appreciation to staff members on that day too if you would like to (e.g. send a note, write an email, send a Dojo message).
Active School Travel
Our termly Active School Travel breakfast was an excellent morning and we were thrilled to see so many families participating in this program. Families participate in a range of ways to assist reducing congestion at peak times including walking, riding, using buses and car pooling.
This time, students received a complimentary bike check thanks to Cycle Sense.
Our breakfasts are wonderful school community events thanks to the generosity and support of:
- The Lions Club Tallebudgera Volunteers - The makers of the best toast in the Universe.
- 19th Avenue Woolworths - for the very generous and regular donations of fresh fruit.
- Bakers Delight - for donating the bread for the best toast in the Universe.
- Team Tally - many staff volunteer their time and start at 6:30am to prepare for this event and work throughout. Our Active School Travel Committee meet regularly to work on our participation in the Active School Travel program, that aims to reduce congestion in school zones and promotes exercise.
- The City of Gold Coast for including us in the Active School Travel program and associated assistance.
Sparkles and Stripes Day
