Welcome 2027 Prep Families!
Our Foundation 2026 parents and children enjoyed their first transition session this morning. The focus for today’s parent session was Compass, important timeline dates and getting involved as a volunteer at TPS. While parents attended their session, our prep 2027 students along with grade 6 leaders enjoyed a literacy session in the classroom. The children were read the The Rainbow Fish and then took park in an activity related to the story. They also enjoyed developmental play.
At the completion of the transition session our parents and students enjoyed a morning tea. A very big thank you to our parents who baked for the event along with Karen Reynolds ( Poppy's Mum) who generously cooked a large chocolate brownie and cookies. Karen is in the early stages of launching her new business Bear and Pickles Lunchbox treats. Karen specialises in preparing homecooked delicious treats made with healty ingredients and minimal additives. For more information, please email Karen at bearandpickle@outlook.com
We look forward to welcoming our 2027 familes back for their second transition session on Wednesday 11th November.
Grandparents Day
Last Friday, we hosted our annual Grandparents and Special Persons Day. It was wonderful to see so many visitors at our school, supporting their grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. We hope everyone enjoyed seeing our students in action and experiencing the vibrant learning taking place in classrooms across the school. Thank you for taking the time to be part of this special day.
Interschool Chess Results
Five students represented Toorak Primary School in the recent interschool chess competition: Jacob Ye, Arthur Chen, Alex Brooke, Axel Valmorbida and Hunter Idzes.
Twenty-seven teams made it to the semi-finals, with the top 10 schools qualifying for the Victorian Chess Finals. Toorak Primary finished in 11th place, just narrowly missing out on qualification!
A huge congratulations to all five players on this fantastic achievement!
It’s particularly worth highlighting that two of our five representatives were only in Year 2, competing against predominantly Year 5 and Year 6 students. This makes the team’s achievement even more impressive! If your child is interested in enrolling in Tuesday lunchtime chess classes, please click here.
Young Principals of the Day
Mila and Ava had the very important job today of being our Young Principals of the Day!
The girls kicked off their busy day by collecting our Grade 6 student leaders to speak at our first 2027 Foundation Transition session. They also created their very own Principal badges, which they wore proudly throughout the day. Mila and Ava visited classrooms, rewarding students with stickers for demonstrating our school values. They also took to the stage at assembly to help present awards to their fellow students. One of the highlights of the day was enjoying a delicious hot chocolate, prepared by Ms D, along with a biscuit! Well done, Mila and Ava!
Firefighters Visit the Preps!
Foundation students enjoyed an exciting visit from local firefighters. They learned about fire safety while also ganing an appreciation for the brave work that firefighters do to protect our community. The highlight of the visit was when the firefighters turned on their siren and water hose!
Adventure Galore at the Grade 3/4 Portsea Camp!
Our grade 3/4 students travelled down to Portsea early last week for their 3 day camp. Students challenged themselves with a range of exciting activities, including the flying fox, big swing, archery, high ropes, beach games and Gaga ball. Throughout the camp students bravely faced their fears, tried new skills and encouraged one another to step outside their comfort zones. Students also took responsibility for setting up and packing away the kitchen for each meal. Despite the challenges of a few sleepless nights, for our students, it was a wonderful few days of learning, growing independence and creating memories to last a lifetime.
Grade 5 Somers Camp - Sun, Surf and Sand!
Grade 5 students had a wonderful time at Somers Camp last week. The weather was amazing enabling lots of beach activities including building a raft, kayaking, sand play and beach walks. They also had a fantastic time participating in a range of initiative games that encouraged teamwork and problem-solving. It was great to see students try new things, work as a team and build friendships along the way. A fantastic few days of adventure, laughter and lasting memories was had by all!
Anyone for a Hotdog?
There were hotdogs, chocolate brownie and a juicebox on offer at this week's Spatzenschule lunch order day. Students were all smiles collecting their delicious lunch. Our next Spatzenschule lunch order day is on Thursday 19th November. Stay tuned for Spriggy ordering details.
