From the Principal's Desk

What's making news this fortnight?

It’s hard to believe we’re already midway through Term 3! The past few weeks have been full of exciting learning, special events, and opportunities for our students to shine. From SSG meetings to camps, new student-led initiatives, and preparations for upcoming celebrations, there’s a real buzz of energy across all our campuses.

Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings & IEP Development

It was fantastic to see the majority of our families in person for SSG meetings last week. These conversations are such an important part of working together to support our students, and it was great to hear so many robust discussions about the goals and achievements of our young people. Teachers are now finalising Semester Two IEP goals and entry-level skill evaluations, ready to share with you in Week 6.

Camp Kookaburra

This week saw our first group of campers head off to Camp Kookaburra in Corop (at the time you’re reading this, they’ll be arriving home). A big thank you to Jo Scarborough for her organisation, ensuring every detail was in place for a safe and fun adventure. Camp is always a highlight for both students and staff, offering experiences and memories that will be treasured for years to come. Check out our Junior Campus article for some photos of our happy campers!

Reminder to Upper Middle Years at Senior Campus - Camp forms are due back now. If you need replacement forms, please see the office as soon as possible. Thank you.

Father’s Day Celebrations

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and we look forward to welcoming fathers, grandfathers, and special guests to each campus for a BBQ breakfast. It’s a great opportunity to thank them for the important role they play in the lives of our students. Please check the updated calendar of events on the front page for dates and times.

Debutante Ball

Preparations for our Debutante Ball are well underway, with less than a month to go until the big night. This year’s Deb will be the largest group we have ever had – a wonderful milestone for our school community.

Book Week

Book Week is coming up fast! If you haven’t sorted your costume yet, there’s still time – our whole school celebrations will be held on Friday 22 August. Senior Campus students will bus across to Parkside Drive to enjoy a range of fun, literacy-themed activities.

SRC Canteen Program

One of the highlights of the term has been the grand opening of our Canteen program at the Senior Campus – an idea born from our Student Representative Council (SRC). This exciting initiative allows students to spend their Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Dollars on snacks and lunches. Students earn PBS Dollars by demonstrating our school expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner. The first day saw a huge queue of eager customers, with stock selling out quickly! We can’t wait to see what the SRC develops next with this enterprise.

As we move into the second half of the term, I encourage families to stay connected, get involved where possible, and continue celebrating the successes – big and small – of our students. The sense of community we share is what makes our school such a special place for learning and growing together.
