Assistant Principal News

Welcome back to the start of the school year. I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing summer holiday. It has been wonderful to see our students return to school and settle back into their classrooms so well. At 9.30am on Wednesday morning, I had the opportunity to walk around the school, and in every classroom I visited, students were actively engaged in their learning, collaborating with their peers and getting to know one another. At the same time, it is completely normal for some children to feel a little unsettled in the mornings or evenings as they return to school routines. After spending more than a month with family, this adjustment can take time. Please do let us know if your child is experiencing particular difficulties settling back into the school routine so we can work together to support them.　いよいよ新年度がスタートしました。ホリデー中は様々なイベントを楽しんだり、ご家族と静かな時間を過ごすなど、皆様リフレッシュすることができたでしょうか。水曜日の朝、全校生徒が元気に登校してきました。９時半頃、各教室を訪ねて回ってみると、生徒たちはすでに落ち着いた様子で教室内で行われているアクティビティに参加していました。スムーズに学校のルーティンに戻ることができた生徒たちに感心しました。同時に、登校前、下校後に疲れてしまったり、不安な気持ちになってしまう生徒もいるかもしれませんが、夏休みという長い期間を家族と過ごした後、このような気持ちになることはとても自然なことです。もし、そのような状態が長く続くようでしたら、学校までお知らせください。

NAPLAN will take place between Wednesday 11 March and Monday 23 March. We kindly ask families to avoid scheduling extended absences, such as family holidays, during this period, as we would love our Year 3 and Year 5 students to have the opportunity to showcase their abilities. While we do not teach specifically for the tests, students will be given opportunities to become familiar with the test conditions prior to the testing window to help them feel confident and prepared.　今年度のNAPLANは３月１１日から３月２３日となります。３年生・５年生の生徒たちが自分の実力を試す絶好の機会ですので、この期間の病欠以外の欠席（ホリデーなど）はできるだけ避けていただきますようご協力願います。テスト対策のような授業はいたしませんが、テスト期間が始まる前に生徒たちが試験用のオンラインプラットフォームや、テストが行われる環境に慣れるためのアクティビティなどをする予定でおります。

Our new School Values are now officially in place. During our Start-Up Program, students have spent time unpacking each value and discussing what they look like in action at our school. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful work that has gone into creating a bright and engaging values poster for our school, designed by one of our parents. Thank you, Yoko, for your time, creativity and contribution — we truly appreciate your support in bringing this to life.　昨年度紹介された新しい校訓が本年度より正式に使われます。スタートアッププログラで、生徒たちはそれぞれの校訓について話し合い、どのように行動で住めすことができるかを考えました。また、新しい校訓の施行に伴い、保護者の方がとても素敵なポスターをデザインしてくださいました。ボランティアとしてたくさんのお時間、両力を注いでくださったことに大変感謝しております。ようこさん、ありがとうございました！
