District Sports

Athletics may be done but the sporting prowess of our Albanvale PS students keeps going with the School Sports calendar.
On Monday 11 May, eleven of our 5/6 students, coached by Mr Suarez, took to the courts of Keilor Stadium to take part in the District Netball competition. The team were outstanding, winning three of their four games and only missing out on finals by goals scored. What makes this effort even more astounding is that the team had only had TWO training sessions after school, with no prior netball experience.
Mr Suarez could not be more proud of them - not just their performance on the court either. Their behaviour at the stadium did not go unnoticed, with people commenting on how well they behaved and how respectful they were. Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of the team who, most importantly, had a lot of fun!
On Tuesday 12 May our best cross country runners from Grades 3 to 6 travelled to the Keilor Athletics Track to take part on the District Cross Country for our school's region. Once again, they all demostrated respect and responsibility at the event, and returned very tired to school at lunch time having given it their all.
A special mention goes to Kayan, in Grade 6, finishing eleventh in his 3 km event. And finally a big thank you to Mr Suarez for coaching, encouraging and organising for the students to participate in these activities. We love encouraging our students to be active and this was an awesome demonstration of the experiences it can bring.
