Dear Families,

We love having our community involved in activities at our school, and this term is no exception!

As I mentioned last newsletter, we were so lucky to have our families join us for the Albanvale Athletics Carnival. We also had parents onsite helping us organise and run our Mothers' Day Stall last week (I hope you were all spoilt silly on Sunday). And, as always, we love seeing our parents at our fortnightly assemblies. It's heartwarming to have the opportunities to celebrate the moments that make Albanvale special and memorable.

This week we have more opportunities to welcome families on site...just don't forget to bring your lab coats! Get ready for STEM WEEK!

STEM Week starts on Monday and the students are going to be so busy getting sciency (I am aware it isn't an official word) they say time flies when you are having fun so no doubt that next will be over in a flash. We use this week, which happens to coincide with Education Week, to celebrate our learning in science, technology, engineering and maths. And boy do we celebrate!

Students will be taking part in incursions throughout the week: Prep to Grade 2s will be mad scientists at a Chemistry Lab; Grades 3/4 will be working with Forces in Motion; and our Grade 5/6s will be working with Electrical Circuits to become electricity experts.

But the real fun will be happening on Wednesday afternoon when we invite our families into the classroom for the APS STEM Challenge. I don't want to give too much away, but any budding engineers or builders out there will be in their element.

To add to the other maths games and Mathletics Competitions running throughout the week, our Assembly will feature a Maths Showdown where the classroom champions compete to become Albanvale Maths Champions!

Yes, it is jam-packed! Levent Ibrahim, our Numeracy Learning Specialist, and the Grade 3-6 Team have put so much effort into making this a stand out week for our students to celebrate STEM.

Prep 2027 - Preparing our Little Learners

Prep enrolments for next year are open, and we are so happy to see Albanvale PS is a school of choice within our community. We have already received applications for over 70% of our planned places.

Our school readiness program has been such a success we've had to increase the days we run it. Our excellent educators run the program for those pre-enrolled for Albanvale next year to help get them ready for school, as well as give them a head start with their literacy and numeracy. These sessions run for one hour weekly through out the school term and are completely free.

If you have a child due to start Prep next year (or know someone who does) I strongly encourage you to pre-enrol as soon as possible so they can experience the fun of Little Learners. We are running tours for those needing an introduction to the Albanvale Advantage - just contact the office to organise a time.

Achieve Excellence, Together.
