Systemic Knowledge - students will be learning about the following;

 

Grade 5 

  • 1 - History -  Settlement, Invasion, Colonisation and Migration

    -why the British Establish an Australian colony

    -understand the significance of the Blue Mountains crossing

    -understand how early colonies were governed and how power was contested

    -understand who lived in the colonies and why

    -understand the impact of gold in Victoria.

 

  •   2 - Civics - Government and Democracy

    -identify the three levels of government in Australia

    -understand the values and principles of Australia’s democracy

    -how representation and elections work in Australia

    -how individuals can participate as active citizens.

     

 

Grade 6 

  • 1- Biological Science - Evolution, Adaptation and Extinction

    -identifyliving organisms have changed over time and that fossils and scientific evidence show these changes

    -understand how life on Earth has changed over time and how different types of organisms appeared and disappeared

    -learn the diversity of living things is influenced by natural selection

    -understand adaptations are features or behaviours that help organisms survive in particular environments

    -understand how living things survive and succeed in different environments by using special features and behaviours.

     

  • 2- Economics and Business - Entrepreneurship

    - understand what an entrepreneur is and how they create goods or services to meet needs or wants

    -understand how entrepreneurs recognise demand and take risks

    -identify attributes of successful entrepreneur

    -develop a basic business idea and explain its value for the community - positive and negative impacts

    -apply knowledge of demand, cost and resources to plan a service - holiday.

We will continue to work through the Resilience, Rights, and Respectful Relationships Program (RRRR). This program supports schools and early childhood settings in promoting and modelling respect, positive attitudes, and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience, and confidence.

 

 

 

 

Using the RRRR Victorian Curriculum Program and with support from Open Parachute and Zones of Regulations, we aim to help build positive social interactions across our class and the whole school community.

 

Grade 5 will be learning about;

-Personal and Cultural Strengths

-Positive Coping

-Problem Solving

 

Grade 6 will be learning about;

-Gender norms and sterotypes

-Positive gender relations
