Numeracy

Year 5 students in Maths will be focusing on:
-3D objects; Features, properties, classification, orientation, transformation, point of view, symmetry
-Decimals; Quantity, number triad, partitioning, equivalence, benchmarks, base-10 system, digit position
-Probability; Probability, randomness, fairness, bias, independent event, dependent event
-2D shapes; Features, properties, classification, orientation, transformation, point of view, symmetry
-Time; Attribute, comparison, unit of measure, equivalence, conversion
-Fractions; Quantity, number triad, partitioning, equivalence, benchmarks
Year 6 students in Maths will be focusing on:
-Time; calculating elapsed time, interpreting timetables and itinaries and using timetables to plan journeys
-Fractions; representing fractions with same and different denominators, identifying and locating equivalent fractions on a number line, comparing and ordering fractions with related and unrelated denomintors
-3D objects; identify and sort objects based on their cross-sections, identify and describe right prisms
-Decimals; add and subtract decimals using place value and partitioning, add and subtract decimals using the vertical algorithm, select efficient calculation strategies and solve worded problems involving addition and subtraction of decimals
-Probability; describe and estimate probabilities with numerical scales, identifying and compare the effects of increased trials in chance experiments
-Pattern; identify and describe geometic patterns, design algorithms to generate number sets, identify and compare number patterns using digital tools
