Careers Update

What has been happening
Last week in MFMP our Year 10 students attended a talk by Matt Clark regarding the Headstart program and pursuing a school based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT). The program allows a student to undertake paid on the job training and related VET study that also contributes to their VCE, VCE Vocational Major or VPC. Data that Matt provided shows that starting an apprenticeship or traineeship at school with the support of Headstart considerably increases the chances of it being a successful undertaking.
Just this week the Year 9 students completed the first step of the Morrisby program being the psychometric profiling through the Morrisby online platform. Students were asked questions to highlight their aptitudes, personality, and interests. Algorithms are then used to assesses the student's relative strengths to suggest tailored career options and study pathways.
In Term 4 the Year 9 students will have one-on-one career discussions with Morrisby trained interviewers to assist them to interpret their results.
