2026 School Theme - Coherence
Dear Westbreen PS Families,
Welcome to Term 2!
Welcome to another term of fun and engaging learning opportunities for all of our students. I have enjoyed hearing from many of our students who did lots of reading, enjoyed time with family, helped out around the house or enjoyed nature and the outdoors during the break.
Anzac Day
Anzac Day is a national day of commemoration. On Saturday 25 April 2026, the Australian War Memorial will mark the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings and commemorate all Australians who have served in times of peace and war. We are selling a range of items priced between $1-$5 to support the Anzac Appeal, supporting veterans and their families. Student leaders will be attending our local Dawn Service at Glenroy RSL Cenotaph, 186 Glenroy Rd, Glenroy beginning at 5:45am. All community members are welcome to attend this local community event. We will also be commemorating Anzac Day at school on Friday, led by our student leaders.
P&F Fundraisers from Term 1 - Thank you for your support!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Hot Cross Bun drive and Chocolate Raffle. We sold 91 packets of hot cross buns - I hope you enjoyed them! We also raised $1181 with our raffle. Thanks to all of our wonderful P&F volunteers, with the support of our office staff, for organising these events. This term we have the school disco and the Mothers Day stall to look forward to. Keep an eye on the Parents and Friends page of the newsletter for information over the coming weeks.
Breakfast Club
Unfortunately, we have not been able to run Breakfast Club over the past few weeks due to a lack of volunteers. Breakfast Club is a highly regarded school program but can not run without the support of our community. If you (or someone you know that has a Working with Children Check) are able to assist on any morning to prepare and serve breakfast (cereal, toast etc), please contact the office. We need your support to continue this great service for our community.
Industrial Action
You may be aware that the Australian Education Union have proposed a number of actions in regards to the ongoing industrial action. Any actions that will have an impact on the teaching and learning program at WPS will be communicated to families as soon as practicable. At this stage, one of the actions will be that written comments will not be provided on the Semester 2 reports.
New website coming soon!
We have been working throughout Term 1 to build a new Westbreen Primary School website. Our aim has been to make the website simple to navigate to provide information about our school that is up to date and easy to find. It will be changing over to the new format in the next few weeks. The current website address will remain the same. If you notice anything not working or specific information missing on our new site, please let us know!
