Dear Families,
100 DAYS BRIGHTER
Today the Foundation class celebrated 100 days of school, which has made them 100 days brighter! They dressed up in bright colours and took part in bright activities all day. It was lovely to see the excitement in the classroom!
CURRICULUM DAY
Next Monday 27th July, staff will be participating in another professional learning day with Danny Hyndman; the focus being spelling. There will be no students at school or OHSC on this day.
PARENTS & FRIENDS
Due to the fundraising effort of our school community, we have been fortunate enough to purchase addition magnetic tiles. Students were very excited to show off their creations this week.
Our apologies for the confusion with the pie order prices. Hard copies of the correct order form have been sent home today and are available from the office.Orders can be made via QKr.

PARENT/STUDENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 5. Appointment times will be available to book through XUNO from Monday 27th. We encourage all families to make a booking, as this is a great opportunity to celebrate your child's growth and achievements while discussing their learning and focus areas for the remainder of the year.
MOBILE PHONES
Toolamba Primary School understands that students may bring a personal mobile phone to school, particularly if they are travelling independently to and from school. For the purpose of this policy, “mobile phone” refers to mobile phones and any device that may connect to or have a similar functionality to a mobile phone such as smart watches.”
At Toolamba Primary School:
- Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours
- Exceptions to this policy may be applied if certain conditions are met (see below for further information)
- When emergencies occur, parents or carers should reach their child by calling the school’s office.
NOTRE DAME COLLEGE PERFORMANCE - "THE ADDAMS FAMILY"
On Wednesday, the Grades 3-6s had the opportunity to attend the Notre Dame dress rehearsal performance of The Addams Family. The students did an amazing job and our kids thoroughly enjoyed it! It was also special to watch one of our former students. Oliver Hanns in the role of Mal Beineke.
TOOLAMBA DINNER MUSTER
July 27th, 6.30 PM Come along and be part of a shared dinner experience. A great opportunity to catch up with your neighbours whether they be next door or streets away. Everyone is welcome to join this foodie event. Bring whatever takes your fancy - Hot, Cold, Vegetarian, Meat filled, sweet, savoury…. All dishes are appreciated and size of dish totally up to you.
AusAlert
We’ve been advised that a national test of AusAlert will happen across Australia on Monday 27 July at 2 pm.
AusAlert is a new, national emergency warning system. It sends warning messages to compatible mobile devices during emergencies, to keep people informed so they can act quickly. The Australian Government plans to launch AusAlert in October 2026.
On Monday 27 July at 2 pm, all compatible mobile devices will receive a Critical Alert. Compatible mobile devices include phones, tablets, smart watches, safety watches and some vehicle devices. These will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds. This will happen even if they are on silent or do not disturb. The message will clearly state that it is a test. No action is required from the test.
To minimise disruption, student phones and smart devices should always be switched off and stored securely in lockers or bags during the school day. Students who use their mobile phone as part of a documented exception can continue to do so. If appropriate, they can turn their phone off during the test.
You may also wish to let your child know that if they see or hear the alert, school staff will support them. You can learn more at AusAlert: children and teens. Information is also available in other languages.
Safe phones
AusAlert may increase risk for people experiencing violence, especially if they live with someone who uses violence. Alerts may expose safety devices.
If you or someone you know has a hidden device, the best way to stay safe during the test is to:
- turn offyour mobile device or put it in aeroplane mode
- keep your device off or in aeroplane mode for 24 hours.
Silent mode and do not disturb will not stop the alert.

PREP BAGS 2027 DESIGN COMPETITION NOW OPEN
Parents and carers of 2026 Prep students
The Department of Education is inviting current Prep students at Victorian government schools to enter its Prep bags 2027 design competition.
This is an exciting opportunity for your child to showcase their creativity for a chance to see their design featured on the front of next year’s Prep bags. These will be given to thousands of students starting Prep at a Victorian government school next year.
How to take part:
Designs must reflect the theme – My year of Prep.
Submissions can be either hand drawn or digitally designed. It must be your child’s original work.
Drawings must be in black marker on white paper. Digital designs must be in black on a white background.
You can upload your child’s submission as either a JPEG or PNG file.
Entries close at 11:59 pm on Sunday 9 August 2026.

The department will judge all entries, with the winner announced later this year.
