TPHS Drama and PDM/Visual Arts Students Shine in Beaches Young Filmmakers Competition

Congratulations to our talented Drama and Photography students who achieved outstanding success in the 2026 Beaches Young Filmmakers Competition.

The competition challenged young filmmakers to create original short films incorporating a series of 'secret rules', including a mystery keyword, phrase and prop item. This year, 37 films from 130 young filmmakers were selected as finalists, with two films from Pittwater House students reaching the finals and receiving awards.

Award Winners:

If Only

Santiago and Jason (G8): Santiago wrote, directed, filmed and starred in his film If Only, with cast member Jason, earning the award for Best Cinematography (12-14 Years Category).

Everything We Didn't Know

A collaborative production by Pittwater House Year 10 Drama and Photography students:

Director, Writer, Editor and Cinematographer: Weston (G10) 

Cast: Maya – Indiana, Lucy – Issy and Evie – Annabelle (C10) and Noah – William (G10) 

Weston (G10), also received Runner-Up for Best Cinematography (15-18 Years Category) for his exceptional work on the film.

We are incredibly proud of these students for their creativity, dedication and filmmaking expertise. Their achievements reflect the depth of talent within our Drama and Photography programs.

Drama Students Nominated for OnStage

We are thrilled to congratulate several outstanding Year 12 Drama students who have been nominated for OnStage, the highly regarded showcase of exceptional HSC Drama performances from across New South Wales.

These students have worked tirelessly throughout the year, collaborating closely with their Drama teacher to devise, develop and refine their performances. Their dedication, creativity and commitment have resulted in dramatic works of exceptional quality that showcase their immense talent, skill and passion for the performing arts.

Congratulations to:

• Imogen (C12), for her powerful performance of The Happiest Day of My Life.
• Parker (G12), for his compelling performance of The Mercy Seat.
• Finlay (G12), for his dynamic performance of an excerpt from Sweeney Todd, titled There's No Taste Like London.
• The group performance Why Should We Help You?!, an insightful and thought-provoking piece exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on humanity, featuring Tilly (C12), Parker (G12), Finlay (G12) and Imogen (C12).

We are incredibly proud of these students and the dedication, perseverance and artistry they have demonstrated throughout the creative process. Their nominations are a wonderful recognition of their hard work and achievement.

A special thank you also to Ms Larissa Wenman for her beautiful performance photography, capturing these memorable moments and showcasing our students' performances in all their glory.
