Our Spotlight Winners for the Week -  Keep our environment clean and tidy

This week - Behaviour Spotlight 

Keeping our environment clean and safe is one of the best ways we can look after our health, protect local wildlife, and team up for a brighter future. When rubbish and plastic pollution build up in our streets and parks, they do not just look messy, they can wash into our waterways, harm animals, and spread dangerous germs.

Making a real difference starts with simple, everyday habits that anyone can master. By ditching single-use plastics, using the right recycling bins, and switching off lights when leaving a room, we can easily shrink our carbon footprint. Taking care of the environment is a team effort, and by making smart, eco-friendly choices today, we are building a much safer tomorrow.

This week’s word of the week is anticipation. Anticipation means to be excited about something that is coming up. These coming weeks, there have been a lot of events coming up that will create a lot of anticipation around our midst. An example of an event that is coming up is the Zing Interschools Challenge. Students have worked really hard to memorise steps and are really excited. This is also an example of building up anticipation. Here are some more things to anticipate about:

• End of the Term

Senior School Expo

Senior school invites YOU to celebrate the incredible creativity of our Year 5 and 6 students! 

On Monday of Week 9, our classrooms will transform into a vibrant gallery for the Senior School Art Expo. Come along to view a stunning showcase of student artwork, creative projects, and artistic talent.

When: Monday 14th September, Week 9 - 9am

Where: Seniors Classrooms

Who: All parents, carers, and friends are welcome

Electricity Day

On Thursday, Stage 2 and 3 gathered in the hall to learn about electricity and the importance of it. We learned different things about electricity, like staying 8 metres away from a power line if it falls down, reporting it to an adult as soon as possible, alerting other people not to go close, and more. They also told us about the 6 key safety messages. Firstly, stay safe outside. For example, if you're having a birthday party and a balloon flies up and gets stuck on a power line, you should tell your parents so they can call 000 if it is an emergency. The power line could start to burn, cause an explosion, and more. Secondly, metal is a conductor of electricity. For example, do not fix appliances with metal screwdrivers. Instead of using metal screwdrivers, you can use plastic screwdrivers, wood 

screwdrivers, and insulated screwdrivers. Thirdly, water and electricity don’t mix. It’s very important that you don't mix water and electricity, or you will get a shock. Tell your parents if anything else happens.

Furthermore, we should all stay away from the electricity substations. Ask any rules, or you will be in a dangerous situation. Another rule we learnt is if you are in an emergency situation about electricity, tell your parents and switch it off. Lastly, in a dangerous situation, tell an adult, report it to an expert, and call 000 if someone gets hurt (for example, gets shocked, feeling dizzy and more)  Switch it off, 8 metres distance and more. Now we all learnt something new and we can stay safe around electricity. We are extremely grateful that they came to our school and talked to us about our safety. We enjoyed doing hands on activities and we loved having them come and share their knowledge with us.

As we grow closer and closer to the ZING Interschool Challenge, the excitement across the school is electric! We are all so excited for Wednesday the 23rd 

of September where our students have a chance to shine at the zing active competition. Our talented students have been training incredibly hard, putting their all into every routine. We can’t wait to see them dance and to showcase their amazing moves. We hope you come and see them pull

off their extraordinary moves that they have practiced all term.
