Jets Gym Program - Family Account Credits

School Council recently considered the payment made by families for the Jets Gym Program session that was unable to go ahead due to staff industrial action occurring at the scheduled time.

School Council has made the decision to credit families' accounts for the amount paid for this session.

Where there are currently unpaid charges on a family's account, the credit will first be applied to these outstanding amounts. Any remaining credit will stay on the family's account and will be available to offset future school charges.

Families do not need to take any action, as the credits will be applied directly to accounts..

We appreciate family's understanding regarding the disruption to the scheduled gym session and are please to be able to ensure that the payment made is retained for the benefit of each family.

Celebrate and support diverse learners 

October 2026 is Dyslexia Awareness Month and ADHD Awareness Month and Friday 16 October is Developmental Language Disorder Day. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about these conditions and how we can support diverse learners in school and at home. 

About diverse learners  

Diverse learners have characteristics of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, developmental language disorder (DLD) and learning difficulties such as dyslexia.  

Our school is committed to inclusive education where all learners are supported by evidence-based teaching practices, which are essential for diverse learners.  

Diverse Learners Hub 

The Department of Education’s Diverse Learners Hub has resources for teachers and families on how to support diverse learners. 

These include: 

• information about supporting students with language difficulties, including DLD 
• information for parents about learning difficulties, including dyslexia  
• resources developed by the department’s partner, Monash University’s AllPlay Learn team, including:  
• parent resources 
• why some children have trouble sitting or staying focused 
• primary students with ADHD 
• secondary students with ADHD. 

Student Support Groups (SSGs)

Inclusion isn't just what happens in the classroom. It's also how we work together around a child.

Over the past couple of weeks we've written about fair not always meaning the same, and about the role our Education Support staff play in helping students access learning. Another part of this work is the Student Support Group, or SSG.

Every student's progress is monitored, and most of that conversation happens through learning conferences, emails and the usual back and forth with the classroom teacher. An SSG is for students whose learning, wellbeing or support needs are more complex, or who need adjustments reviewed regularly through the year.

An SSG brings together the people who know the student best: parents or carers, the classroom teacher, and leadership or wellbeing. Depending on the child, Education Support staff, a speech pathologist, an OT or another service working with the family might also come along. They usually run for about 30 minutes, once a term.

In the SSG, the teacher goes through the student's Individual Education Plan: the goals we're working on, the adjustments and strategies in place, and how the student is tracking against them. We look at what's making a difference and what needs changing. Then we set the goals for the next term. Families also tell us what they're seeing at home, which gives us a fuller picture of the child and helps inform the adjustments we're implementing at school.

For some students the focus is mostly learning. For others it's communication, friendships, behaviour, attendance, transitions or independence.

Above all, an SSG keeps school, home and the people supporting a student working together, as one.

Work at the Victorian state election 

The Victorian state election will be held on Saturday 28 November 2026. 

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is looking for people to staff voting centres in paid roles.  

Roles suit a range of skills, experience and availability. Some involve several weeks of work before or after election day. Others are just for election day. 

Working at an election is a chance to: 

• earn extra income 
• gain valuable work experience 
• meet new people 
• support your community 
• play a role in Victoria's democracy.  
•

Closing Soon - 2026 Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

We want our parents/carers to tell us what they think!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. 

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.
