PE in Term 3
During PE this term, students have participated in a variety of ball sports as well as Athletics for the middle and senior years. Year Levels have been focusing on working as a team and passing in AFL, netball, basketball, flag football or tag rugby.
We have engaged Flag Football coaches to deliver activities to Year 3 - 6 Monday classes over the past fortnight. Next term, the Flag Football coach will return for Thursday PE lessons. We will also welcome Cricket Victoria to run a session for all classes in October and Melbourne United to run basketball clinics and games in November.
District and Division Athletics
Congratulations to Ryder in Year 4 and Max in Year 6 who will be representing the Mordialloc District at Kingston Division Athletics. Ryder is competing in the 9/10 year old boys Shot Put as he threw a distance of 6.88m at District level. Max is competing in both the Shot put and 800m run. We wish these two boys all the very best in their events, on Thursday 8th October.
Representative Sport Achievements
We have some talented students in Year 5/6 who have been selected into representative sport teams. Well done to:
- Hayden for representing the Dandenong Rangers basketball team at the National Junior Classic. Hayden’s team finished in 3rd place and he has also been selected for the Future Development Program. Congratulations Hayden for your basketball achievements!
- Toby and Ryan for winning their grand final matches in the Waverley District Tennis Tournament, last Saturday. The boys finished at the top of the ladder as a team! Congratulations.
- Anita for being selected in the Victorian Under 14’s Volleyball team. Anita will be playing in the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships, in Perth, over the upcoming school holidays. Congratulations and good luck Anita!
City Hoop Trials/Fundraiser
On Sunday 20th September, Hoop City is holding a Basketball Community Trial Day, at Hoop City Cheltenham. There will be a coffee cart, face painter and a kid’s zone with lots of games, basketball activities and giveaways. To register for the event, please see the attached flyer.
