2026

Spring has certainly arrived at St Mark’s! The beautiful blossoms have sprung on the trees at the front of the school, and with the wind blowing yesterday, it looked like white confetti was floating everywhere. It was such a beautiful sight!
In the garden, we have been busy preparing for the warmer months ahead. We have planted lots of bulbs around the orchard and in various garden beds around the school, hoping to bring some extra spring colour to our gardens. We have also been busy planting new vegetable seedlings and, of course, doing plenty of weeding to give everything the best chance to grow.
It is wonderful to see the gardens beginning to come alive again with new growth and colour. We are looking forward to watching our spring flowers bloom and our vegetables grow over the coming weeks!
Thanks to the parents of 3/4D who have come to help out in the kitchen. These people have included Brian (Jacob’s Dad), Kereen (Ava’s Dad), Melissa (Madison’s Mum), Sharu (Sienna’s Mum), Barbara (Harvey’s Mum), Lolita (Cyrus’ Mum), Katy (Kiara's Mum) and Angelo (Natalia’s Dad). You make the kitchen class run so smoothly.
Have a great holiday everyone!

Kiara: This week, the Zucchinis (my group) were in charge of the bread. The Carrots were in charge of the dip, the Tomatoes were in charge of the main meal, and the Eggplants were in charge of the salad. The bread this week was basic bread. The dip was beetroot tzatziki. The main meal was cauliflower and potato soup.
Devon: Today, I was making the main meal. I had to peel potatoes with a peeler and then chop them with a knife. I also had to tear some parsley into little pieces and put it into a small white bowl. Then, I had to dry some big bowls that Mel had washed for me using a tea towel. I thought it was so much fun, and I always look forward to cooking and gardening.
Sena: This week, my group got to make the salad. Today, I got to cut the tomatoes and make the salad dressing, which contained Dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. This was really fun, and I hope I can make the salad again.
Evelyn: Today, in my Zucchini group, I made the main meal. My group made pasta with pumpkin and lots of cheese. There were three types of cheese, and all the cheese almost filled a whole bowl. The types of cheese were parmesan cheese, tasty cheese and ricotta cheese, which was fluffy like a marshmallow. It even looked like a marshmallow, just chunky, but it wasn’t a marshmallow! It would be extra tasty if it were an actual marshmallow. The parmesan cheese was shredded into tiny pieces. When I asked to shred some cheese, I don’t know why I’m talking about cheese so much, maybe because the pasta was mostly all about the cheese! I was surprised because it tasted so delicious that I dreamed about having more parmesan cheese, but too bad there was none left. I didn’t cut the pumpkin because I almost cut my finger last time, so I just helped with the other things. It was sooooo fun making the main meal today! We also added a little spinach. I also forgot what the main meal was called!
Elle: This week, I made the dip. It was a pea dip with peas, garlic, Parmesan cheese and carrots. I’m really excited to try it!
Ava: Today, my group made zucchini bread. I was excited because I like making bread. At first, I thought it looked bad, but afterwards it looked really good. Now, I am really excited to taste the bread!
Eddy: Today, we made zucchini bread. It smelled a bit strange, but I didn’t mind because I knew it was going to taste good. I am so excited! It is going to be so good. Only one friend is here today, so it is going to be quite lonely. Teddy said that the zucchini bread is super good, and Barbara helped me.
Flynn: Today, I was in the main meal group. We made a creamy carbonara with cheese sticks and Italian salad. I chopped the onion and washed the chopping boards. It was fun, and I hope that it will just get better. I thought that chopping was the best part, but I wasn’t the greatest at it.
