Every child has the right to learn and every teacher has the right to teach. 

        Lesson Plan: Being a Kind Person

Step 1: List Learning Intentions and Success Criteria

 

We are learning to show kindness through our words and actions.

 

It will look like explaining what kindness is, identifying kind and unkind behaviours and showing kindness through words and actions. 

 

Step 2:  List a rationale for teaching the behaviour

Step 3:  Identify examples and non-examples of the desired behaviour 

What would the behaviour look/sound like?                      

Examples

Using your manners

Offering to help someone when you notice they need something

Offering others to play

Holding a door open for someone else

Supporting and encouraging others

Helping your classmates to clean your classroom

Checking on someone when they are upset

 

What would the behaviour not look/sound like?

Non-examples

Using mean words or calling people names

Leaving others to clean up mess on their own 

Laughing at people when they make a mistake

Excluding people from your games

Snatching things from others 

Interrupting or talking over people

Pushing in 

Not sharing equipment
