Assembly - Monday 15 June
Our next Primary School Assembly will take place on Monday 15 June in The Farrall Centre and will commence at 2.15pm. We welcome members of our community to attend. Please remember that due to privacy concerns and to respect the photo permission choices of other families we ask you to refrain from taking photos and videos during assemblies.
Parent Volunteers Wanted to Help With the Kitchen Garden
We are currently looking for parent volunteers to assist with the maintenance of our kitchen garden behind Walpole on Friday afternoons at 2.30pm. If you enjoy gardening, are available at this time, and currently registered as a volunteer with the school, please email Carla to express your interest.
Please note that our volunteers will require a current Working With Vulnerable People card. You will also need to fill in a volunteer form here. We thank you for your assistance with this, and appreciate any helpers who are able to be involved.
Prep - Outdoor Education Excursion - Fern Tree Park - Thursday 11 June
On Thursday 11 June, Prep students will be participating in an Outdoor Education Day at Fern Tree Park and completing a walk to Silver Falls, this day has been rescheduled due to the weather in previous weeks.
Class teachers, learning assistants and Emily Ardas, our Outdoor Education teacher, will accompany the students on the excursion. We will be departing school at 9:45am and returning at 1.00pm. The aim of the day is to explore the local bushlands while developing relationships with peers.
Students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform and sturdy shoes to walk in. They are also to bring a backpack with morning tea and lunch, rain jacket, water bottle, a warm jumper, beanie, sun hat.
Earthcare Excursion Days - Mondays 1, 15, 22 and 29 June
Our Kindergarten Earthcare Excursion Days will run every Monday until Week 9. Our first days will be at Knocklofty Reserve. We will travel to and from the site by bus, departing at 12.30pm and returning to school at 2.15pm.
Please note that the times will change for later excursions to allow for a longer period of discovery and play. Collection time for all children will remain at 3.00pm in the Kindergarten, at the end of the day as per usual.
Years 5 and 6 Physical Education lessons - Gymnastics at Kingborough
The Years 5 and 6 PE classes will be participating in gymnastics sessions at Kingborough Gymnastics Centre over the following weeks:
- Mondays 15, 22 and 29 June - Year 6 (leave 12.00pm, return 2.00pm)
Wednesdays 17, 24 June and 1 July - Year 5 (leave 12.00pm, return 2.00pm)
Students will travel by bus to and from the venue with Lisa Di Venuto and their classroom teachers. Please do not submit second break lunch orders on these days. Any further information required please contact Lisa Di Venuto.
JSSATIS Cross Country - Soldiers Memorial Ovals on The Domain - Wednesday 10 June
The JSSATIS Cross Country will be held on Wednesday 10 June at Soldiers Memorial Ovals on the Domain. Selected students from Year 3-6 will travel by bus leaving school at 10.30am and returning by 2.45pm. Any enquiries please contact Lisa Di Venuto.
Year 3 Excursion - Molesworth Environment Centre - Thursday 11 June
Our Year 3 students will be attending an excursion to Molesworth Environment Centre on Thursday 11 June. The day will focus on environmental learning and team building activities. Students will depart school by bus at 10.00am and return by approximately 3.00pm.
Please ensure your child brings:
- appropriate layers of warm clothing
- a jumper or windcheater
- a waterproof coat for wet weather
- sturdy shoes walking shoes
- a packed lunch
- snacks and drinks

Primary All Schools Cross Country - Symmons Plains - Tuesday 16 June
The Primary All Schools Cross Country at Symmons Plains will be held on Tuesday 16 June, following the JSSATIS Interschool Carnival on Wednesday 10 June at Soldiers Memorial Walk, The Domain.
This year, the school will contact families of students who are considered likely to be competitive at the Symmons Plains event and provide further details. Families who wish for their child to participate will need to arrange their own transport and supervision for the day. The school will continue to manage the administration process, including event nominations and entry fees.
K-12 Plain Clothes Day for Refugee & Migrant Scholarship - 17 June 2026
With annual giving fast approaching, we are pleased to announce this year’s fundraising focus is a Refugee & Migrant Scholarship (needs based). To support this aim, all students K-12 are invited to participate in a school wide plain clothes day with a gold coin donation going towards the Scholarship.
Students will also be reflecting on the educational disruption displaced students experience, and taking part in activities across the School. More information will be shared about the School’s 2026 Annual Giving appeal soon. “When we listen deeply… we hear voices calling for welcome.”
Family/Sibling Photos Wednesday 24 June | Hodgkin Hall
MSP Photography will be running family/sibling photos in Hodgkin Hall (Commercial Road Campus) on Wednesday 24 June from 3.15pm-5pm. If you would like to have a family/sibling photo you will need to complete this form by 4pm, Monday 22 June and allocate your family a time slot.

Absentees
If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Primary School Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: primaryschooloffice@friends.tas.edu.au) and the classroom teacher before 8.45am. We appreciate your support in this process.
