Moderation Day - Tomorrow Friday 5 June - No Classes
A brief reminder that Friday 5 June is Moderation Day and there will be no regular timetabled classes from Kindergarten to Year 12. School buildings for K to Year 12 students will not be accessible. Teacher attendance at these Moderation Day meetings is a State Government regulatory requirement that aims to improve the integrity of assessment and ensures common standards across all schools in Tasmania.
Friends' Early Learning and Friends Health & Fitness will operate as normal. Primary School Outside School Hours Care bookings for this day remain open - please refer to last week's What's On newsletter for details.Senior students have been reminded that this is a timely opportunity for private study and learning resources are available for all classes on SEQTA Learn.

K-12 Plain Clothes Day for Refugee & Migrant Scholarship - 17 June 2026
With annual giving fast approaching, we are pleased to announce this year’s fundraising focus is a Refugee & Migrant Scholarship (needs based). To support this aim, all students K-12 are invited to participate in a school wide plain clothes day with a gold coin donation going towards the Scholarship.
Students will also be reflecting on the educational disruption displaced students experience, and taking part in activities across the School. More information will be shared about the School’s 2026 Annual Giving appeal soon. “When we listen deeply… we hear voices calling for welcome.”
Family/Sibling Photos Wednesday 24 June | Hodgkin Hall
MSP Photography will be running family/sibling photos in Hodgkin Hall (Commercial Road Campus) on Wednesday 24 June from 3.15pm-5pm. If you would like to have a family/sibling photo you will need to complete this form by 4pm, Monday 22 June and allocate your family a time slot.

Have Your Say - Better Streets Project
The City of Hobart is working on a project to improve walking, cycling, public transport and to make streetscapes more beautiful. Called a Better Streets project, it has two focus areas:
- Upper Elizabeth Street - between Federal Street and Augusta Road.
- Augusta Road - between Elizabeth Street and Greenway Avenue.
The project is currently in Stage 1 engagement, which focuses on:
- sharing information about the project and past planning work
- highlighting previous engagement and Council decisions
- listening to community views, concerns and priorities
- gathering feedback to help guide any future concept development
Friends' parents and staff are encouraged to share their views by:
- completing the online survey
- registering for an online or in‑person information session with the project team
- sharing what you love about your community through a creative picture or short story.

Quaker Meetings for Worship
All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.
Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

Thursday Morning Meeting for Worship
Members of The Friends' School community are welcome to attend a short Meeting for Worship held each Thursday morning during term time, starting at 7.40am. Just come quietly in when you can and join us until 8.20am in the Hobart Quaker Meeting House, which is located just below the Middle School Office on Boa Vista Road.
Community Yoga – Returning in Term 4
Please note that Community Yoga will pause over the winter period and will return in Term 4. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the mat later in the year.
