Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers – National Volunteer Week

Last fortnight we celebrated National Volunteer Week, and it gave us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the heart and soul of Resurrection School – our volunteers and helpers.

We truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child, and here at Resurrection, we are so incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a community that lives this every day. From the parents and grandparents who show up rain or shine, to those who lend their time and talents behind the scenes – our school simply couldn’t function without you.

Whether you’re giving your time as a volunteer or working as a dedicated paid staff member, one thing is clear: everyone at Resurrection goes above and beyond for our students.

🌟 Special Spotlight: Honoring Our Everyday Heroes 🌟

Today, we shine a special spotlight on some truly remarkable members of our school community—people whose dedication, kindness, and service have shaped the heart of our school for decades.

Jack – With over 18 years of devoted service, Jack has been a steady and reliable presence in our school. There’s truly nothing Jack can’t fix or repurpose—his creativity and problem-solving skills are legendary! His commitment and quiet strength have made a lasting impact on students, staff, and families alike.

Virginia – For an incredible 35 years, Virginia has been a cherished part of our school community. She began her journey as a volunteer in the School Uniform Shop, generously giving her time and energy. In the early 2000s, she took on the role of running the School’s private After School Care program, where her care and dedication made a lasting impact on countless families. She later continued this important work with Camp Australia, where she remains a trusted and familiar face. Through every role, Virginia’s warmth, experience, and unwavering commitment have shone brightly, enriching the lives of students, families, and colleagues alike.

Yvonne – Yvonne has been a treasured member of our school community for over 20 years. When her beautiful grandchildren attended our school, she supported us daily in the classrooms, always ready to lend a helping hand. She joined us on excursions and was a constant presence at school events, offering her time and warmth wherever it was needed. These days, Yvonne quietly tends to our school garden each week, nurturing not only the plants but also the spirit of our community. Her ongoing care and generosity continue to offer invaluable support—bringing growth, beauty, and a special sense of connection to our school.

Robert  – For over 25 years, Rob has been a tireless and generous volunteer, deeply embedded in the heart of our school and parish community. Whether delivering packages to classrooms, keeping our gardens beautiful, or lending a hand wherever it was needed, Rob was always there with quiet dedication and a ready smile. His commitment extended beyond the school grounds—he also gave his time to support the parish and our Learning Centre, always focused on helping others and making a difference. Now enjoying a well-earned retirement, Rob’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. His contributions remain woven into the fabric of our community, a lasting testament to his spirit of service.

Edgar – For more than 12 years, Edgar has stood rain, hail or shine to ensure our students cross the road safely. As our trusted crossing supervisor, he greets every child with a smile and helps start and end their school day with care and security.
