What are Joy Bots?

Joy bots are the small robot characters that we drew with vibrant colours on the surface of a dominio. These wonderful bots have different amounts of eyes, legs, arms and antennas. Each joy bot is made uniquely by everybody, these are to help spread happiness and smiles of seeing your own creation on our school walls. Our joy bots are just for looking at, not for touching.

This Week’s Resilience Lesson: The Power of Gratitude – Year 6 Explore the Role of Expression

This week, our Year 6 students participated in a powerful Resilience lesson centred around gratitude and the important role that expressing appreciation plays in building positive relationships and emotional wellbeing.

During the session, students reflected on the people, experiences, and things in their lives for which they are grateful. Through guided discussions and interactive activities, they explored how sharing these feelings—not just feeling thankful, but expressing it—can have a meaningful impact on themselves and those around them.

Students created “Gratitude Messages” for peers, teachers, or family members, practicing the skill of thoughtful and sincere expression. They learned that expressing gratitude helps to strengthen social bonds, improve mood, and foster a more supportive community.

This lesson is part of our ongoing focus on resilience, encouraging students to develop emotional intelligence, empathy, and a positive mindset.

Families are encouraged to continue the conversation at home—ask your child who or what they’re feeling thankful for this week, and who they might want to express it to!

On Friday we had to do the resilience project about a teacher we are thankful for and why they have a positive impact on our lives. Then after that we had to make a card for the teacher we picked to write about. This activity was a really good way to express our feelings about our teachers in the past. My card was about my speech therapist in year 1 and 2. She made a big impact on my life because she taught me how to say words properly with no mistakes. This was a fun way to tell the teacher how they have helped us grow as a person, and that she taught me to never give up and try your hardest.  by Zoe

Last week on Friday, we did resilience project about thanking our teacher for what they did for us. Some of the questions were: how did this teacher help us grow as a person, what is a valuable lesson they taught you and how has this teacher helped you face the challenges and obstacles. For the teacher that made a positive impact on my life is my grade 5 teacher. A message she told me was to always be you no matter what. This activity helped us realize what our teachers did for us and how they give up their time to help us. by Bao
