As we bring Term 3 to a close, we want to express our gratitude to our whole school community for an action packed term. This term has been filled with rich learning opportunities. From thought provoking science incursions to rigorous national competitions, our students have represented Kingswood Primary School with pride.

Celebrating Student Achievement & Academic Excellence

This term saw opportunities for our Student Excellence and High Abilities programs to participate in a wide range of experiences, giving our students the chance to stretch their thinking on both local and national stages:

Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC): Selected High Abilities students in Years 5 and 6 took on the prestigious AMC from August 4th to 6th, engaging with complex, non-routine mathematical problems designed to test logical thinking and creativity. Results are being released soon.

Greater Dandenong Network Maths Games Day: High-ability mathematics students from Years 4, 5, and 6 represented Kingswood at Keysborough Primary School. They tackled problem-solving challenges, creative tasks, and strategic math games alongside peers from a wide range of schools.

The Biomimicry Project: Selected Year 3 and 4 students extended their scientific thinking through the Royal Botanic Gardens' Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series, exploring how nature's designs inspire modern human innovation.

Hands-On Learning & Incursions

Our classroom learning was brought to life this term through immersive, real-world experiences across all year levels:

Year 2 Activity Extravaganza & Science Dome: Year 2 students explored space during their 'To Infinity and Beyond' Integrated Studies unit with an incursion inside an inflatable planetarium dome on August 6th. They followed this up in September with a memorable two-day extravaganza, featuring mini-golf and bowling at Morris Moor, followed by a hands-on Billy Cart building and racing day at school.

Year 1 Minibeast Exploration: Our Year 1 students visited the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne for a sensory, hands-on study of invertebrates, worm farms, and insect hotels, deepening their understanding of how living things depend on their ecosystems.

Whole School Learning Expo (50th Birthday Celebrations): As part of our milestone 50th birthday celebrations, our Whole School Expo provided a wonderful platform for students to display their Term 3 learning to our wider school community. It was a fantastic exclamation point on a huge term of inquiry, brilliantly demonstrating the rich, high-quality learning taking place across every single year level.

50th Anniversary Commemorative Mural: As part of our upcoming 50th-year celebrations, selected Grade 6 students worked alongside a guest artist to paint a vibrant school mural—a lasting artistic mark created by our students for generations to come.

Looking Ahead to Term 4

While Term 3 was filled with highlights, Term 4 promises to be just as exciting! We are already preparing for several high-quality learning experiences, including our Year 3 Camp to Wombat Corner, where students will build independence, outdoor skills, and strong team connections. We also have the G.A.T.E.WAYS 'Ignite' Programs for selected students across Years 1 to 6. Students will participate in high-ability workshops hosted here at school. Students will engage in Transcending Timeless Tales (Language and Critical Thinking) and Hidden Figures Revealed (Maths and Science), diving into concepts well beyond the standard curriculum. These are 2 examples of the opportunities coming up in Term 4, there are sure to be many more.
