Hi Everyone,
Our Year 5 & 6 Choir Members got to enjoy being part of Song Fest this week. Well done to all the children in this choir and thank you so much to the Mrs Annemarie Kirsten, who is their passionate singing teacher. I can't wait to hear them live again sometime soon.
Well done to all the students who received a STAR Award at our Whole School Assembly this week. It is always a hard decision for the teachers to pick who will be the star award recipient, as there are so many children with outstanding behaviour and who exhibit constant kindness at Ironside State School. Congratulations again!
It was wonderful hearing the Senior Band playing at assembly also, they just continue to get better and better! Congratulations to them and Mr. James Kukulies. Next week is our Year 4-6 Merit Assembly and the Junior Band will be playing!
Speaking of instrumental music, there was an Instrumental Music Recruitment Concert this week. This is where our children in Year 1 and 3 get to hear some older students play and think about whether they too would like to be in the instrumental music program. I have no doubt we have many children who want to be part of the future of Ironside State School amazing music program.
I was able to give some badges out at assembly this week to a group of very deserving students who are now officially Legends of the Lost. Congratulations to Raphy, Lachlan, Tate, Daniel and Min. These boys have been a wonderful addition to our group. Please ensure that you help us out by putting your child's first and last name on everything they own. Congratulations again boys!
If you heard that we had a film crew at school this week, that is accurate. We are making a virtual school tour at the moment, as well as a virtual tour for incoming prep parents. I can't wait to see the end results.
We had a Writer’s Toolbox Coaching Day yesterday. Louise, our coach, came in and modelled in different classes throughout the school and worked with the children. These were excellent sessions and I know our teachers got a lot out of them, as did I.
Interschool sport finished today and was a big success overall. Thank you so much to all our teachers for the time that's gone into Interschool Sport and especially to Mr Nathan Reardon, who organises and oversees all of it; it is a massive job!
I will finish with a reminder that Book Week is in three weeks for us. Our Book Week Parade will be on the last Thursday of school this term which is the 17th of September. It is time to start thinking now and getting costumes organised. This year's wonderful theme is ‘Symphony of Stories!’ Have a great time coming up with a costume and remember, please don’t feel you need to buy costumes. Opportunity Shops are a great place to piece together a costume, as well as using recycling materials!
