From the Principal

Dear St Anthony's Families,

What a great few weeks we have had and what a wonderful few weeks to come. During these two weeks we have been sleuths, scientists, learners, artists, authors, movie aficionados and bookworms. Learning at St Anthony's takes many different shapes. Thank you to all the parents for supporting your children and us in creating a vibrant, fun and purposeful learning community.

First Eucharist

On Sunday the 9th of August, we celebrated our first Eucharist for our Year 4 students. The whole Year 4 cohort was there and it was so wonderful to see the support for the community, especially the student who were not making their First Holy Communion. It is a real testament to how close and caring our community is. Congratulations to Noah, Julian, Peter, Molly, Xavier, Sophie, Leo and Tim. More in the 'Education in Faith' page.

St Anthony's Presents:

This timeless tale of Cinderella will be presented to you by our students on Wednesday the 16th of September at the Glen Eira Town Hall, starting at 6.15pm.

Your presence is requested.

Today you will receive the official invite from King Harald, in your child's schoolbag. Carefully open it and follow the instructions.

Please note: the performance is part of our schooling and curriculum, and all students are expected to attend.

SAC meeting

On Tuesday night, next week we will have our third SAC meeting of the year. Thank you to those the people on the SAC for giving up their time to help our community.

Movie night

The Movie night was a great success. We had 85% of the students attend and it was great to see everyone enjoy the evening. Thank you to our parents: Sean (PFA), Sandra, Efra, Linda and Indra, and Belinda and Liz from our staff.

A big thank you to our SRC for thinking of the idea and preparing for the evening. Well done!

Our Little Scientist Day

We had a great Science day yesterday. The students experimented and discussed scientific experiments.

We blew up Diet Coke (with Mentos, not dynamite!) and took the opportunity to have a chat about soft drinks and the impact it could have on their young bodies.

We created Magic Milk and saw how dish soap reacts with the fat in milk, causing the food dye to swirl and move

We made instant floating pictures with whiteboard markers and water.

We created Oobleck, a non-Newtonian fluid and discussed how it behaves like both a solid and a liquid depending on how it's handled.

We spoke about the difference in density between oil and water during our lava lamp experiments.

Kinder connections

We are looking forward to hosting a few 3 and 4 year old Kinder students at our Cinderella Dress rehearsal in Week 9. We look forward to sharing our acting skills with them .

Well done to Sophie and Molly

An incredible achievement from Molly and Sophie last week. They made quite a bit of money for Tony's Cafe.

The girls were supposed to hand the novelty cheque to Gwen on Tuesday, but Gwen hasn't been well. Hopefully she will be back next week and we can reveal the grand total to everyone.

We thank you for our teachers, who nurture not just knowledge, but wonder.
