LUNCHTIME CUTLERY
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH ANY CUTLERY NEEDED FOR THEIR LUNCH AND SNACK.
ONLINE LUNCH ORDERING
We have a number of children that are missing out on their lunch orders due to user error. Please make sure you select the correct date and move through each step to avoid your child missing out on their lunch order. You can check your receipt to confirm that you've completed the order correctly.
Lunch orders are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Please log in to Qkr! and follow the steps.
Lunch orders are all on line. Orders must be placed by 8:30 a.m.

THE JAPANESE WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT
さいこうです(pronounced ‘saikoh des’) which means ‘awesome’, is the Japanese Word for Week 3 and 4 of Term 2.
You can simply use ‘さいこうです’ (‘saikoh des’) instead of ‘awesome’ when you feel awesome or see something awesome.
Thank you / ありがとうございます (pronounced ‘aligatoh gozaimas’) for your continuing support for our Japanese program.

Mothers Day Events -- Friday 8th May
On Friday 8th of May, please come to our Mother’s and Special Persons open morning.
Gates will open at 8:00 a.m. Grab yourself a coffee or a hot chocolate from the van and a $3 cookie, which we will be selling for fundraising purposes.
Take this time to mingle and chat before heading into the classrooms at 9:00 a.m. for some activities till 9:30 a.m.
SMILE SQUAD
Free school dental program is coming to Valkstone Monday 1st June.
Dear families,
The Smile Squad team from BETTER HEALTH NETWORK , Bentleigh East are coming to our school.
Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program.
This means ALL students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.
How to access free dental care
We need your consent before we can provide services. Consent is usually provided by a parent or guardian.

Please complete and submit the consent form as soon as possible.
Paper copies of the consent form are also available. Please contact the school office if you would like to request one.
The electronic consent form can be translated into more than 100 languages, and the paper form is currently available in 30 languages.
Smile Squad oral health packs
All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.
Your child(ren) will soon receive a free oral health pack to bring home. The pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, and an oral health brochure. Please take the time to read the brochure. It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.
Standard strength toothpaste
Smile Squad provides standard strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional.
If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste. You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.
Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?
No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.

Any student wanting to enter can collect a pamphlet from the front office.
The Instrumental music program at Valkstone PS is back for 2026! Having a fantastic start in the later half of 2025, we would love to see even more Valkstone students take up an instrument and start their passion for playing music.
Enrolments are now open: We currently have guitar, drums and piano running in school hours with a waiting list for other instruments.

In order for your child to be featured, please complete the Media Permission form on Compass.
LOST PROPERTY
Lost property is located outside the gym near the STEM room.
This is not for children to just take any jumper/hat they find in the lost property.
Children should only be taking their own items.
Please remember to put your name on your school jumpers, hats etc. to ensure that we are able to return them to you.
