Greatness Beyond the Gates

At Valkstone Primary, we love celebrating the many ways our students shine beyond the school gates. Each week, we hear stories of children achieving wonderful things in sport, the arts, community service, and personal passions — and we couldn’t be prouder. This page is dedicated to honouring those moments and recognising the commitment, courage, and enthusiasm our students show in the wider world.

Student Achievement in Little Athletics

During the last school holidays, one of our Year 6 students Cam C. proudly represented Victoria at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Brisbane — and delivered an outstanding performance both on and off the field.

Competing in the U12 Boys Shot Put, Cam achieved a personal best throw of 12.98 metres, improving his previous best by an incredible 54 centimetres and setting a new club record in the process. His great performance led to him finishing 8th overall – an amazing achievement! Cam and his family were thrilled with the result, and it was a wonderful reward for the hard work and dedication he has shown throughout the season.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Cam was also recognised for his leadership and sportsmanship. Team Managers and Coaches selected him as the U12 Boys Team Vic Captain and overall Team Vic Vice-Captain — an honour reflecting the positive example he set both during the season and throughout Team Vic training sessions and official functions.

Cam embraced the captaincy role with enthusiasm, particularly enjoying leading the team chants and helping build team spirit among his fellow athletes.

Congratulations to Cam on an exceptional championship and for representing his club and Victoria with such pride, leadership, and energy!
