OASIS
Students will identify the needs of plants and animals including air, food, shelter and water and the place in which they live meets those needs.
Art – Lauren Nankervis
In Term Three, Year One children will make artworks using different materials to express their observations and imagination. They will focus on warm and cool colours, as well as developing an understanding of the concept of texture.
Students will describe the artworks they create.
Science-Jess Widdicombe
Students will finish their work and unit on materials, properties and mixtures, before focusing on push and pull as a force.
Music – Stacie Mason
Using well known songs, students will learn to combine rhythms with pitch (high and low sounds) to write the music they hear and create. They will combine this new skill with known musical concepts, singing and using instruments to compose, practice and perform. Songs will include Doggie, Doggie, Icka Backa and Rain, Rain.
Indonesian – Bu Jaqui
After a short break from learning Indonesian in Semester One, this term the Year One students will focus on revising the vocabulary they covered last year including introducing themselves (Nama saya..), numbers, colours and animals. We will use this knowledge to read an Indonesian translation of the ‘Brown Bear’ book and create their own mini flip book to take home.
PE – Luke Freeman & Class Teachers
Students will participate in a perceptual motor program focusing on balance and movement through twisting, turning, and bending. They will explore fundamental movement skills (FMS) such as ball bouncing, catching, leaping, and dodging through individual skill practice and modified ball games.
Students will also develop the fine motor skills of kicking and punting during modified game play situations.
