Jackson School is a collaborative learning community for all. We aim to develop independence through safety, respect and responsibility. We aspire to offer authentic, quality educational experiences that develop futures, create opportunities and inspire student potential; enabling our students to be valued and contributing members of the wider community. We share and celebrate our successes and achievements.
The Issue Highlights
Dear Families,
It has been great to see our students engaging so positively with their learning, showing our school values of safety, respect and responsibility so far this term. Students continue to engage in events from excursions and camps to travel training. These experiences help our students develop not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Our staff continue to work with great dedication to create supportive learning environments for our students. Today, we celebrated our Education Support (ES) Staff and took time to celebrate and acknowledge the incredible work of these staff members who play a vital role in the day-to-day life of our school. They are an important part of what makes our school a safe, caring and effective place to learn and grow. Their dedication, patience and behind-the-scenes efforts often go unnoticed, but their impact is deeply felt by staff, students and families. We salute them.
Enjoy the video below that some of the student leaders made to thank our ES staff.
Mother's Day
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Mother’s Day Stall and Morning Tea such a special occasion. It was lovely to see so many mums, grandmothers, and special carers joining us to celebrate. We’re grateful to our Parents and Friends group for their time and effort in organising such a meaningful event for our school community. It truly was a fun filled morning of laughter and connection.
Mental Health Week
This week, we also marked Mental Health Week, with a strong focus on wellbeing and connection. Students participated in a range of activities at recess and lunch times led by our mental health team. We thank them for providing a range of activities to support our students in developing emotional resilience and friendship.
Our students participated in different activities during recess and lunch to promote positive mental health.
Disability Inclusion (DI) Update
We are excited to share that our Disability Inclusion Profile meetings are well underway. This initiative is designed to help us better understand your child’s strengths and the specific adjustments we make across key areas: Learning and Applying Knowledge, General Tasks and Demands, Communication, Interpersonal Interactions, Self-care, and Mobility.
This term, we have already completed 10 out of the 33 scheduled meetings. Thank you to all the parents who have attended these sessions. Your participation is invaluable. Each meeting includes the Education Department-trained facilitator, the classroom teacher, a principal nominee, our allied health team, and student.
We look forward to completing all 33 meetings and continuing our work to support your child's development.

UNIFORM
Second hand uniforms
If any families have uniforms that their children have outgrown we would love the donation via the school office. We hope to have a second hand uniform shop at the Winter Fete in June. It would be much appreciated if they had been washed for future sale.
Student names on uniforms
Just a reminder to families to clearly mark names on school uniforms. We are finding a number of families who have had jumpers and bomber jackets go missing without names. A lost property box is located in the office foyer.
School Savings Bonus Update
As you are aware, the Victorian Government is delivering the School Saving Bonus (SSB) – a one-off support of $400 for eligible government school students from Prep to Year 12 in 2025.
The SSB can be used for uniforms and textbooks until Monday 30 June 2025.
Any funds remaining after 30 June 2025, including online voucher amounts that have not been redeemed, will become a credit to use on school activities. However, the credit will not be available on your family account at school until late July.
Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS)
The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. We will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. This survey will be completed over the next two weeks.

A sincere thank you to our families for your ongoing support. Your involvement plays a crucial role in creating a strong partnership between home and school, and in helping our students to thrive. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or to the school office if you have any questions or feedback.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
