I would like to officially welcome everyone back to Term 3. We have just completed our second week and it is clearly evident when walking around the school, our staff and students have done a great job in resuming the usual routines and expectations that have been previously established.

2024 NAPLAN Results

Last Monday, our school's 2024 NAPLAN results were released. Below is a table that shows our results against Similar and Network Schools.

I could not have been happier with these results. They are a reflection of the impact of not only our Grade 3 and 5 teachers, but all our staff at Langwarrin Park Primary School. We have worked incredibly hard as a school over a number of years to have the highest expectations on student learning and supporting their social and emotional development.

Individual student reports have been sent home to all Grade 3 and 5 parents for them to review. If a parent has a question regarding their child's NAPLAN result, please contact their classroom teacher.

Family Toilet Usage

Recently our school council have been reviewing a range of different school policies. Based on the latest child safe standards set by DET, we now have a designated family toilet. Please be aware that all non-students (including pre-schoolers) and parents must only use the family toilets. These are located in the office and gym foyer. Please do not use any of the student toilets.

Swimming Parent-Helpers Requirements

Another child safe measure that we have introduced are for those parents who provide assistance at swimming. When a parent is helping any students getting changed, they must have a current Working With Childrens Check (WWCC) and child safe module completed. They must also notify the classroom one week ahead of time that they are able to provide assistance. On the day of helping they must sign in at the office and get a parent volunteer lanyard. For those parents who are only spectating at swimming, it is not a requirement to have a WWCC and lanyard.

2025 Whole School Planning

I am already in the space of doing the initial planning for our 2025 workforce plan.

Our whole school student enrolments directly impact our staffing; therefore, it is important that I know student numbers as early as possible.

If your child is starting Foundation next year and you have not already submitted their enrolment form into the office, please do this at your earliest convenience.

Also, if you know that your child will be attending a different school next year, can you please let the office know.

Staffing Announcements

I would like to congratulate Bec Gilchrist (420 classroom teacher) on gaining a permanent position at Casey Fields Primary School. Her last day will be on Wednesday. While we are sad to see Bec depart, this is a very exciting and important opportunity. I would like to wish Bec every success in her new teaching position.

Ms Karin Bannan, who is one of our part-time teachers, will be Bec's replacement. We are still working on a replacement to backfill Karin's role.

Short-Term Staff Replacements

Finding short-term teaching replacements is critically low at the moment. We are in the peak period of staff absence and as a result, replacement supply is very low. When we cannot find a replacement teacher, initially, the class will be split. We do everything possible to have the least amount of disruption to student learning. We thank parents and carers for their understanding when we are not able to find a replacement. This is very much out of our control.

What's coming up @ LPPS?

On Tuesday, our Grade 3-6 students have an authors visit.
On Wednesday we have our Olympics theme PFC Disco
On Thursday our Foundation students celebrate their 100 Days at School. We will be welcoming our Grandparents to celebrate this special event.
Our Grade 6 students have their swimming program.

It is great to be back on board and I look forward to the weeks ahead at Langy Park.
